Post by Blackmore Thu Mar 05, 2020 2:12 am

    Greetings,

I joined this place to announce the release of a mod of mine, called Summer Night's Epitaph. It's a short but fun and mysterious Wolf3D adventure for ECWolf, vanilla-themed but at the same time making use of modern features and capabilities of the source port. Castles, Nazis and nuclear weapons in one package! The lastest release of LZWolf is bundled with the mod for ease of use.

It's a challenge, but I've had to put it down during the second level because while it looks nice, the trees are so off centre that the hitboxes make it actually frustrating to try and traverse the forest. Sad Is this a bug?

Also you've bundled it with LZWolf, but it will work with ECWolf too?

Haha, thank you for trying regardless, I admit the goings can get tough at times, but rewards only come with hardships!

The Sun descending in the west,
    The evening star does shine;
The birds are silent in their nest,
And I must seek for mine.

I'm honestly not the most tech minded person around (kinda behind the times really - I almost purchased web hosting before my son told me a place like MediaFire exists!) I picked LZWolf because it was the newest thing I could find. If my mod works with other versions too, that's grand!

Another kind soul told me you already posted the mod on your WolfSoruce website, thanks for that too! I just kinda hope people don't get the wrong impression, I mean the forest is just one map in a game that mostly takes place in a castle!

Fair! I posted about the forest thing so when people encounter the un-crossable tiles they know it's not them. Unfortunately the trees are apparently so far to the right(?) some of them clip into walls so you cant see them and it seems like you're just blocked, you know?

It's a nice atmosphere for sure, though! I've edited the post slightly

Hey man, glad to see more people like yourself coming into the community to mod Wolf3d.

It was brought to my attention that your .pk3 file includes 3 maps that I made for the Project: Totengraber mapset (Dungeon Cloister, Officers' Quarters, and Subterranean Bunker), these making up your map03, map04, and map05. Generally speaking taking somebody else's map, removing their signature, and then including it in your own map without attribution or credit of any kind is frowned upon, so I hope you can do better about that in the future. Credit is a big deal to most modders, and the blatantly purged signatures do come across, frankly, as a bit disrespectful given how far out of the way you would have had to have gone to do that.

    Example:

Anyway, I hope you continue to grow your modding skills and release more work. With a poetic mind like your own I'm sure we'll see great things from you in the future.

I'm not sure if I understand? You put your signature on my maps? Well yes it does seem a little disrespectful but don't worry, you can use them in any case, I won't mind!

Blackmore, you have copied at least 3 maps without permission into your mod.  Don’t do that anymore.  Please respond about if you understand the first 2 posts in this thread: https://wolf3d.darkbb.com/t3449-mod-makers-who-plagiarize-any-more-will-be-banned

I'm sorry?? You guys really are a confusing bunch, haha. On the pictures you can clearly see the other guy putting his signature on my maps! Don't punish him though, I don't mind because I firmly believe that property is violence, he's free to use them as he wants!

Take us seriously.  We already have banned somebody before for not listening, and then copying resources without permissions.
