Crazy weather here in Australia still. Massive rains still in Queensland with the army having to evacuate entire towns because of record breaking flood levels.

Victoria, where I live has been low in temperature except for today, New years Eve, we are expecting 40 degrees celcius (104 Faranheit) before a cool change and only 24 tomorrow. Just weird stuff...

Australia just had the wettest and coldest Summer since records began. We had over 360mm of rain which is 90 more than the previous record and double our usual amount of rain.

We had 4 days above 35 degrees celsius when we normally have 20+.

It snowed in my area in the last 24 hours. Only picked up 2.5 inches when everyone was forecasting 4-6 inches. In any case, it's great to see snow on the ground again.

Unusually warm for me right now. 40s and 50s, possibly 60 in the daytime until by mid-late January when it might get below freezing for highs again.

I'm claiming bitching rights for city living where it is cold (unless anyone here is from Ulan Bator) as Winnipeg gets freakin' cold. From Wikipedia (and yes, it is accurate):

Winnipeg lies in the middle of the North American continent on a low-lying, flat plain. Due to its location in the Canadian Prairies, and its distance from both mountains and oceans, it has an extreme humid continental climate (Köppen Dfb,[14] USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 2b),[15] in that there are great differences between summer and winter temperatures. The openness of the prairies leaves Winnipeg exposed to numerous weather systems including blizzards and cold Arctichigh pressure systems, known as the Polar high. Winnipeg has four distinct seasons, with short transitional periods between winter and summer.

As high as 42.2 °C (108 °F) in July 1936[16] and as low as −47.8 °C (−54.0 °F) in December 1879[17] have occurred in the city, a 90C (162F) difference. According to Environment Canada, Winnipeg was the coldest city in the world with a population of over 600,000 based on the average night-time temperature from December to February, inclusive;[18] however, now that Ulan Bator has grown bigger than Winnipeg, Ulan Bator, Mongolia is now the coldest city in the world (with a population of over 600,000).[19][20]

I have only witnessed -40 once (the only place where Celsius and Fahrenheit meet). If you factor in windchill we have dropped below -50 on a few occasions. To make things more interesting, two years ago there was 3 million acres of farmland under water in my province after a spring flood. This year is expected to be worse (the thaw is just really starting this week). Gotta see it to believe it.

Not really, I guess it's what you're used to, I'd have trouble imagaining it any other way. We have our main school holiday period over Xmas and New Years so everyone has time off together, It's quite festive still, just no snow! lol

We only really see the snow and misteltoe thing in American movies and TV. American's are still pretty stupid making their movies and TV to only reflect their cultures and holidays even though a greater majority of their revenue is generated internationally... but anyway.

@Ack - I hear Canada is amazingly beautiful, but where you live sounds just waaaay to cold for me, I'd have to go there in Summer I think!

Fortunately here the only bad thing is (for people living close to some coastal areas) that waves reached 15m (50 feet!) . In my area in specific we're safe from that Razz but we're dealing with pretty strong wind and non-stop rain Sad. Temperature's not that bad, which is a plus.

Been -30/-35C most of the week here (average temp throughout the month of December was -20C LOL).  About -50/53C with windchill factored in.  National headlines stating it is colder in Winnipeg than it is on Mars.  Some wise man made ice cream in his driveway.  I love Canada (seriously... I really, really do).

How is the weather in your place? - Page 3 Empty The coldest weather in 22 years.

Post by stathmk Tue Jan 07, 2014 3:16 pm

I believe that our area of Indiana is possibly having the coldest weather in 22 years.  Everything nearby was closed yesterday except gas stations and emergency jobs.

All of this talk about the Mars temperature reminds me that the first Doom takes place on Mars.

Do any of you guys know how long a guy can survive naked without being incapacitated by hypoerthermia in sub freezing weather that is windy? And with a nice warm outfit on. It's to look at hypothermia exposure increase rates for a mod on Skyrim. Serious question, btw. I have no idea where to ask such a question on the internet.

I don't have The Elder Scrolls, but I've heard of the nudism patches for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.  I can't remember if it's World of Warcraft or The Elder Scrolls that bans these nudism patches.  I never imagined a Polar Bear Club in these games.  Nobody wants to see a naked man.

-76 degrees F weather?  I didn't know that Ellen's age is -75 years old.  I'll leave a note for my grandkids that Ellen will be born in 2089 according to the prophecies of The Flying Spaghetti Monster, The Invisible Pink Unicorn, and Cthuluthu.  I'm kidding.

I woke up at 3:30 am this morning to watch a little bit of TV and get a snack.  The news at that time said that it's -76 degrees F in America or Canada and colder than most of Antarctica.  But I realized that there's good news to this:  Conception time!  Northern hemisphere couples conceive the most babies in December or January.  If everybody must be at home, then there must be a baby boom 9 months from now because everybody is stuck at home without distractions!  That's unless you prefer cloning to the old fashioned way.

There are nudism patches for like, every game where you can mod it.
Who is going to ban a mod for nudism on an offline game? The mod sharing websites? No, those are alive and kicking. Probably WoW is doing the banning.

    Fun fact:
The Radeon 270x changes its speed based upon the temperature. It is designed to operate at 93C and no higher, no lower under load. So the colder it gets outside, the faster the GPU is. One guy suggested testing the GPU on a mountain.

Nothing like gaming on the mountain. Ahh, fresh air.

We already had a foot of frozen snow, and now are getting slammed with a day-long snowstorm on top of it.

The snow that had already accumulated over the past week or two is frozen solid.

Besides, snow is always frozen to begin with, otherwise it's rain.  rabbit

I'm slammed with a foot of snow already as well Andy. Mid-Atlantic and Northeast U.S. are getting SOCKED today.

What's worse is that the storm is gonna pick up again and my area is gonna get an additional 4-8 inches from it tonight.

And now I'm hearing a weak clipper system will swing on through on Saturday bringing in MORE snow even though it'll most likely be an inch or two from that one.
