Wrong Texture Display case specific? Empty Wrong Texture Display case specific?

    Post by Falcon93 Thu May 04, 2017 12:25 pm

I have a bug holding up the release of my Demo.
I used the SOD Demo. No code changes made.

At first all is displayed correctly, later when coming back to an area a specific wall texture is displayed wrong, it shows a different wall, and it only does so on the those that run North South, the East West is displayed correctly.

I have maxed out objects and enemies, but that should not effect the wall textures right?
I just checked the texutes in Chaos Edit to make sure that i didn't accidentally add a texute and thro off the placement. So thats not the issue.
    anyone have any ideas?

    Hi Falcon93!

Are you using the DOS exe? It's cool that you are making a set for the SOD demo, I would love to play it.

I can think of two possibilities for the bug:

    1. If you have two doors near each other around a corner, depending on how they're placed, sometimes the first wall can be drawn onto the second wall and so on. I think this problem also happened in one brown room in E3L7.
    2. If you have invalid floorcodes or walls behind a door, when it is opened it could cause a certain wall to change to Gray Stone 1.

Both have bugfix solutions that can be applied to the exe. A screenshot of your issue might help though Smile Cheers!

Yes it is the grey wall 1 that it changes to.
If I can reproduce the bug I will try to take a pic of my screen with my tablet. No internet on the old pc.
It occured last night when play testing on hardest difficulty. I can't seem to get it to happen again.

I am using the Dos EXE I believe.
I right click the EXE and select run with VDMS.

    1
Do you mean 2 doors that occupy directly adjacent spaces
    Ie ======|-||-|=======
I did not do that, however there are two doors that are only one space apart
    Ie ====|-|=|-|=====

As for floor codes I have tested it with WDC error checker and there are no errors.
I also use 3d Edit in Chaos Edit with floor codes on to check while editing and testing.

Does the SOD Demo use all the floor codes listed in Choas Edit and WDC?
WDC did detect my issues of having a dog which crashed the game, as there are no dogs in the SOD demo version.

    2
As far as walls behind doors that does not occur in this level.
However level 2(in my Demo pre release) is a filler, just an elevator lobby, and that does occur.
It shouldn't effect a separate level but I will correct it nonetheless, to avoid errors in level 2 and test level 1.

    Sorry about the caps/font.
I'm not sure how that happened or how to fix it.

Thanks Falcon! I think this link probably explains what's happening to you then:

I patched the SOD demo exe as an attachment if you want it (old savegames won't work in it though). Smile

    Awesome!
    Thank you.
Stangley enough I double double checked  WDC and there was a floor code error.
Odd as I just ran it through a check, but I must have made a mistake since then.
I will use that new EXE to avoid the error from other causes though.
