Read this and End Art text screens can be used in Wolfenstein 3D mods (even Spear of Destiny mods) to create choose your own adventure elements. Certain page numbers can serve as the choices. What do you people think about this feature? You get a FPS mod along with choose your own adventure elements.

Using Read This and End Art as Choose your own Adventure Features in Mods Empty Remind me in a day

I’m not interested.  I had enough of those books from the 1980s and 1990s.  For the original black-and-white Macintosh, the role playing games of Radical Castle and Castle of Ert seemed to have disappeared from the radar.

Remind me in a day to send you the PDFs of 2 of the Mario Choose Your Own Adventure books.

My sister had a Choose Your Own Adventure book where you are excavating a pyramid and there’s an undead mummy.

I think using the End Art screens to determine where the player goes next to be a very good idea.  If you will pardon the shameless self-promotion, I think we were able to do that in our own small way when we built Orb of Dilaaria.  By allowing multiple exits it gave the player some flexibility to choose one’s fate.  By using book text with the multiple exits it gave the mapper (your humble servant) the chance to guide the player (or screw with them – lol).  This adds a greater chance that people will play through a mod more than once – if everything is set up effectively (yeah, I know – painfully obvious).  The only drawbacks I see is that if it is overused it can definitely confuse or overwhelm the players.  If everything is properly tested that shouldn’t be an issue (hey, look who is being painfully obvious again).
