So there's a lot of talk about what the best mod ever is, but what do you think is the best individual LEVEL that has ever been crafted for anything Wolf3D (or Spear)? I'm sure there will probably be some different results because a lot of mods have truly memorable levels. But my vote, without further ado (and it probably doesn't surprise anyone who has seen my past posts), goes to Level 69 of ATAW3D. Even being a little frustrating to solve the first time, this level grew on me so much and as I've said in posts before, it is one I feel is truly unmatched by any other. It's nothing short of the work of a genius, in the purest genuine form. I've almost definitely replayed this level FAR more than any other too. It just doesn't seem to get old, and that among other things is the pinnacle of sheer awesomeness. Hence I stand to my conclusion - it's my vote for #1. What's yours?

I'd vote either for level 69 of All This and Wolf 3D or the amazing final level of Spear End of Destiny.

Final level of SoD was great for the shock factor. But in terms of actual design when you pit it against the mods of today, it's average at best.
I actually haven't played level 69 as much as I should have. Somebody on DHW named their account after the mod. What a weirdo.

Yeah, he's a pretentious little snot, that allthisandwolf3d. Didn't even ask me for permission! What a crock! Oh the pain!
I find it very hard to find one favorite level. There are so many to choose from. Probably E6L8 or... No, I don't know. Totengraeber level 13... Chemical Warfare level 29... Schabbs 2000 level 3... It's difficult.
No, but I love level 69 as well. I think I'm allowed to mention this, even though it appears in a project released in my own name, I had zero input and had no idea what was coming. If I had known this, I probably would've asked for some of those features in level 70 and 71 'cause they stunk big time compared to that one. I got to go and warp to level 69 and play it all over again.

I need to play All This and Wolfenstein 3D. I am interested in it now. The game appears not to have cheats, but who cares. Practice makes perfect. I just played the first level. I do not know how to finish it. I will redo it later. All This and Wolfenstein 3D is the best mod ever made on here with level 69 being the best wolfenstein level ever made.
Edit
Wait, how do you warp? If there a debug mode after all or do you do it through saves?

There are no cheats in ATAW, you have to fight your way through 68 dreadful levels before reaching par-o-dise.

ATAW3D
I think I have savegames for levels 60 to 68 and 70 of the DOS ATAW3D. It took me 33 hours to do 70 levels. I'll have to email the savegames to you overnight.jpb1991 wrote:I need to play All This and Wolfenstein 3D. I am interested in it now. The game appears not to have cheats, but who cares. I think that I play almost all Wolfenstein 3D mods on "Can I Play Daddy?" I don't remember if you mentioned that you play it on harder settings. Try "Can I Play Daddy?" to beat the first level.
To warp, you press F1 or something to go to an earlier level. It lowers your score.

BTW:
If you're looking for a really strange experience apart from ATAW, level 20 of SHS has you covered. It's not one of the uber difficult levels, instead it's super strange... And all done within' the confines of vanilla SDL SoD! Just cheat and warp to level 20.

- Level Details:
-Elevators to finish the level everywhere
-Routes to finish level marked by a cross (the treasure) in front of the way to move forward (but secrets not marked by cross)
-Some secrets will crash the game if you do not follow the correct path. It's like a minefield, but I marked the solution via lights.
-Night/Day "outside" walls everywhere!
-Enemies inside of doors, walking through doors like it's not there
-All around crazy shit
-Probably better enjoyed if you use tab-o cheat to see the level structure, tab-g if things get too difficult.
-First half of the level is the best part.
-Don't take things seriously, just a break from the monotonous 500000 Ubermutants I added to SHS levels...

What does SHS stand for?
What does SHS stand for? I must have missed something on the forums.

SHS stands for Spear Haven Style. One of these days I need to play Super Haven Mapset and Spear Haven Style mapsets also all the way through.

SHS was my first mapset which I made after Super Haven Mapset was out. It was pretty badly received due to insane difficulty. It stands for Sod, Haven Style. The mapset after it is much better received, "This Spear".stathmk wrote:What does SHS stand for? I must have missed something on the forums.

Level 69 of ATAW is really sick, but I'd rather go with a classic one - Spear of Destiny, level 11
