Early Deep Purple is terrific. It's more psychedelic/progressive than the hard rock/heavy metal that roared into popularity and paving the way for true heavy metal, but I still enjoy a lot of their songs. Read a lot about Suck. South Africa must've been hell to grow up in back then, surely for black people, but even so for young, white people with an urge to create music.
