Those credits Jayngo has been talking about? Seemingly useless, right?
Here's an idea..
How about, a shop? Yes, a forum shop. You can spend credits you earn for services, such as name, email, name color, and group changes. How about paying enough credits makes the forum SNOW? YOU can make the forum snow buy paying credits! You can have an advertisement of your upcoming mod as a banner on the forums for limited time by paying credits! Don't worry, the forum won't be barraged with ads, as only one ad may be put at a time.
Now, how do you snag yourself some credits?
Just for registering, you get credits. By that, I mean, for each day you are registered, you get a small amount of free credits. However, you can post in the forums to get more credits. In general, making a thread nets more points than posting. In addition, the amount of credits you gain per post or thread changes across different forum sections. You get a little bit less credits for posting at Off Topic, for instance. One important point, though is to not post for the sake of only to get extra credits. The credit system is a way to encourage good posts, not spamming. What constitutes as simple spamming? That is based on the moderator's opinion. If you are found to be posting for the sake of posting (or violating any other rule, for that matter), you will have an increase in warning level. You may check your warning level in your profile, near where you can check your profile comments you can put down.
Oh, you can also earn some points for having a new friend for your profile. You also net points for posting on your friend's profile, as a profile message.
Speaking of which, you can use credits to decrease warning level. No, you cannot post a lot, get warning and use up credits to decrease warning levels, and profit off credits. Just post normally, people!
A value of 0 or nothing in the field of "Warning Level" means you have absolutely no black marks. A warning level of 100 means instant ban.
Tell me what you think of this new option. I might come up with more ideas on what to use your hard earned credits for.
Note the title, store coming out soon. The rates of services are not yet assigned.
Have a nice day!
Edit:
In related news, the two stickies originally only in the News section are now seen throughout all forum sections. Don't worry, I won't flood each forum with tons of global announcements, just these two.
