    It seems to be getting a bit of an attention deficit on DHW so I thought I'd go ahead and make a post here too.

    Gary Ragland, author of classics like Assassinate Hitler and Schabbs 2000, has released a new 13-level mod Leiche Soldat, a technical prequel to Schabbs 200. Don't let the fact that it's only 13 maps fool you either - they increase the grid to 128x128 and can be up to four times as big as a full-sized map in any other mod. I did some testing for this, mostly the first three levels, and must say I had a blast! Here is the download link:

    Personally I would get upset if somebody posted an overview map that I had just made... I mean... It's a bit disrepectful... That said I am so looking forward to playing super-size Gary maps. I've played Ass. Hitler & Schabbs 2000 thousands and thousands of times and always thought they seemed huge, but once I got hold of the overview maps most of them didn't use up the 64x64 in a traditional way. This, however, looks amazing, very stylish and refined... Consider me retired lol.

    It's a spoiler, and I don't think you've contacted Gary about the subject matter. All I'm saying is that if you'd posted an overview map of a map that I had made (that was pretty recent and most likely unplayed by a lot of people) I'd be pretty upset.

    Well forget it then. I guess I'm just frustrated, however in a positive way, that Gary obviously (this time it's turned around - it used to be me ripping off his ideas since Nazi Operation) made the exact kind of maps that I would've loved to make myself either now or back when Overkill was active. I mean, a real, big slate with room for "actual" castle maps.

    Still feel a bit miffed I haven't played this with the same heart as the old days... I think I'll give it a go again, just haven't had the time. Since the days of endless playing and fanboy'ing and even e-mailing Gary occasionally playing Schabbs 2000 and Ass. Hitler, it's been years and years and now I have a job and my interest in mapping has long suffered. But I am absolutely gobsmacked and thrilled that Gary managed to put this set together and release it for us. That is a gift. I mean this is the equivalent of AReyeP and MCS releasing a wholly new mod or BJ Rowan eventually resurfacing with a sequel to Totengraeber. It really floors me. I just need to be in the real mood to play it, don't wanna force it or anything. But I am absolutely thrilled. I kid you not when I say that I've looked forward to this kind of project ever since I started making mods, which is 10 long years... I always hoped Gary would release something during Nazi Operation or ATAW and we'd eventually collaborate on a map set or something..... Guess that's a silly idea... It's staggeringly obvious who's got the upper hand there... Had it not been for Gary, I think all my maps would be rectangular hellholes. The sprite decor and overall fashion and color blend of Schabbs 2000 and Ass. Hitler has been unparalleled in original-type sets. Much as I've tried and overkilled, I still haven't got close.

    Like it from what I've played. Gary makes the room bigger than usual for his levels so it feels more like very expansive levels and not like they are overly bloated. Good job there IMO.
