New Wolfenstein Series Planned Empty New Wolfenstein Series Planned

Post by Guest Wed May 01, 2013 12:39 pm

I am thinking about doing another Wolfenstein series since the main series is pretty much over. William Joseph Blazkowicz is dead now and I think it is time for a new Wolfenstein series with new characters. Billy Blaze, Michael James, Harry James, and John James could be involved in the Wolfenstein reboot. I am working on their exit story for Doomsday. The Doomsday exit story is set in 2009. This series will be set before and after the events of Doomsday 2009. 2009 is not the year where the future events take place in. The classic Wolfenstein series ended with Amazing Grace, this new series will make it live on. What do you people think? The series will be called Beyond Wolfenstein as in the series will go Beyond Wolfenstein and feature good guys and bad guys. Lucien Judas might make an appearance. The High Risk United Nations Taskforce might appear. Expect this series to start going into DOOM territory with Nazis.

New Wolfenstein Series Planned Empty Don't name it Beyond Wolfenstein!

Post by stathmk Thu May 02, 2013 1:34 pm

Don't name it Beyond Wolfenstein! There are better names. About 3 years ago, I found a Wolfenstein 3D mod that I think was called Beyond Castle Wolfenstein 2 on a video game file sharing web site. I emailed Brian saying, "Hey, I've found this new mod that you didn't notice and you should put it on The Dome." He replied that he had heard of it, and that Apogee or 3D Realms had contacted him before telling him to take it off of The Dome for copyright reasons. Naming it Beyond Wolfenstein will create some confusion. Name it something else.

I need to do some things now. Remind me tomorrow to email you a longer message.

    Nate Smith released:

    Beyond Wolfenstein (release date: 6/16/99)
    Beyond Wolfenstein II (released: 7/7/99)
Beyond Wolfenstein II SE (released: 11/30/99)

The CEO at iD at the time demanded those sets be removed so that they could no longer be freely distributed due to copyright matters. What happened to Nate was a huge lesson for all of us in the community and really helped open our eyes as to what a modder can and cannot do. The story is available on a few sites and I always recommend people familiarize themselves with the facts because it is historically significant for modding and it is a warning of what can happen in regards to legalities (AReyeP asked iD's CEO some poignant questions too - those you should also be able to find if you search).

What anyone decides to name one's work is his own business - I get that. However it is my nature to tap someone on the shoulder before he steps into quicksand.

Found a little more info on the Dome courtesy of Andy just before I posted this (kinda miss those profiles):

The Wolfenstein Files would be a good name for the series.

What I do not understand is how come Super Wolfenstein 3D Haven Mapset is available? The letter states that the original music should not be used and Super Wolfenstein 3D Haven Mapset uses the original music and graphics. Wolfenstein will not be seen in the Wolfenstein Files.
For the 21th Anniversary of Wolfenstein 3D, Schabbs is going to return. Their are going to be two games created that will promote the new series. The games will take place in 2006. The storyline for the games will take place directly after William Joseph Blazkowicz's funeral. Satan, also known as the Harbinger of Doom, will appear. Satan and Deathshead (Schabbs) will be working together to create a demon army using the original mutant formula that was used in Wolfesntein 3D. Both games will occur at the same time. Both games will feature one level. Michael James will fight the Ubermutant and Satan and John James will fight Deathshead. Consider these two games test games just to test the series.
