Just decided to look around and see for shits and giggles if there may be a new Wolfenstein game in the works. Rumor has it, they are. And it's posted on quite a few game sites just a few days ago about it.

Here is an excerpt from Bluesnews.com.

    New Wolfenstein Game?

    [Feb 09, 2013, 3 pm ET] - 44 Comments

A clue that a new installment in the Wolfenstein series of supernatural World War II shooters is underway was discovered by Polygon, making a case that the game is in the works at Machinegames, a developer acquired by ZeniMax in 2010. They report a cache of Julian Beeston's website where the composer's résumé lists "ADR Engineer, Production Sound" on a Wolfenstein project in development at Machinegames. They also note that it has already been announced that Machinegames, a Swedish developer formed by vets of Starbreeze, "is working on an unannounced project for ZeniMax publishing subsidiary, Bethesda Softworks, that is being built on id Software's revolutionary id Tech® 5 engine technology." Thanks Gamer's Hell.

And here some links about it from other game sites.

All I know is that they BETTER be making this one similar to RTCW with old school FPS tactics. Not Wolfenstein 2009 with those stupid modern FPS tactics like Call of Duty.

I wonder what they will put now, since the crystal stuff is done and BJ killed it all...

Deathshead need to die in this game.

What is 'oldschool' tactics, by the way?
What I think needs to bechanged is to allow modders and mappers to join, like in RTCW.

By "old school" regarding Wolfenstein I mean mostly picking up health items, not this regenerative health bullshit like in modern war games.

Also Wolfenstein 2009 turned me off when you had to fight your way through the town to GET TO A MISSION SPOT. In RTCW, the missions were straightforward and they cut to the chase. THAT is what I want in the new Wolfenstein game.

I REALLY wanted Wolfenstein 2009 to continue the kind of level and gameplay design of RtCW. I only managed to beat RtCW recently, and I am amazed by what Gray Matter and Nerve did to update Wolf3D. Granted, RtCW made it difficult at times to be totally stealthy at certain levels, but could've been expanded upon in Wolf2009 if only the designers were invested in that kind of gameplay. After the release of games like Dishonored and Deus Ex: HR, they could make Wolf3D great again. I'm just sad that Raven hasn't been as inspired as it used to be, like in the Heretic+Hexen days. They kind of diluted the aspects which made RtCW an awesome game in the first place.

You wanna know what's awesome in RTCW compared to Wolf 2009? Well RTCW has:

    - Much more stealth

    - Health that doesn't continuously regenerate

    - Levels that automatically "cut to the chase" unlike Wolf 2009 where you have to fight across town to get to an area to start the mission

    - Chaingun and pistol(s). Makes me mad Wolf 2009 doesn't have a chaingun like old times. Forget the MG42. And DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON HOW STUPID RAVEN SOFTWARE WAS WHEN THEY DECIDED TO NOT ADD A PISTOL INTO YOUR ARSENAL

Taking away BOTH the PISTOL AND CHAINGUN simply takes away 2 of the 3 signature weapons in Wolfenstein history.

    - Greater assortment of weapons.

    - A much bigger and nicer Castle Wolfenstein. The Castle Wolfenstein in Wolf 2009 is much smaller in gameplay and not very appealing. Add in the fact it's only one mission and only has 2 levels of it where RTCW has you in and around Castle Wolfenstein for about 8-9 total levels.

    - Better voice acting. I love the mission briefings with Jack and the Director (Tony Jay's version) in RTCW. You only see Jack and the Director only once in Wolf 2009 and that is before the game even starts.
