Okay I know this year isn't quite over yet but I'd like to see some what people's top 5 mods of this year are (top 3 or so for those who've played less). No poll options (hence not in that section of the forums), just list and feel free to comment Smile

Only rule is it must be new mod with first public release this year. So no direct SDL ports (something like Totenkopf SDL which was really a different game would be acceptable, though I don't recall any such releases this year).

I've only played The Lost Relic and Einsenfaust this year. A little bit of my previous mapsets.

Did you like either of them (Overdrive/Relic)? [The Lost Relic was not firs released in 2012 though.)]

I can only think of Eisenfaust Origins. I know I released 685 add-ons this year, but what else has been released in 2012??

EDIT: LOL WolfForever - we both confused Eisenfaust Origins for "Eisenfaust Overdrive"! Good one...... scared tongue

Guns & Glory and Time to Kill are the first that come to mind.

Guns & Glory. I'd say that it had tons of potential, but I remember it as being odd because while being very new and refreshing in outlook, it still had some crucial sprites that were still from the original game - purple dots and all.

What do you think of Eisenfaust Origins (correct name this time!)? Even though you personally contributed a lot to it I'd appreciate your thoughts on how it turned out. Smile

Also - same with the DHW SOD set.

I'm very happy with the way it turned out. Of course I'm biased but to this day I still think it's some of my best work. And Dean's maps are amazing!

I keep thinking of the DHW SOD map set as a 2011 thing. But that was pretty good, that one.

Does "it" in refer to Eisenfaust, DHW SOD, or both? And finally, if you were very happy with them, why weren't they picked as favorites (any reason besides your involvement in them)?

Eisenfaust, but happy with my contributions to DHW SoD as well. And I never pick my own mods as favorites. I just have fun creating mods and I'm very happy with the results, but it is for other people to play and rate it. It's one thing to be happy about your mapping, but another to proclaim it one of the best mods of the year. Bit narcissistic ain't it? So yeah, I don't do that.

There's nothing wrong with being proud of what you've done and even proclaiming it's one of the best of the year. We're thinning out here in the community in regards to mods, so you can easily say that Eisenfaust Origins is the best mod this year. No doubt about it.

It should win a prize just for the fact that it's actually one of the few things that's been released the past four years! lol!

The Lost Relic was originally released at the end of 2009, but was so bugged no one else would be willing to play it even with the help from Wizzie and I to get past the crashing bug.

Now that it's mostly patched up, hopefully others will start playing it some.

I count TLR as one for 2012 because wolfers now have the opportunity to play it without any specific guidelines. It's still a little buggy, but much better than before.

Exactly, I only remember seriously playing Eisenfaust this year. The Lost Relic isn't from 2012. Eisenfaust was quite nice.

I know that Wizzie, but like I said, no one had much of an opportunity to play it. So it didn't get the recognition it should have.

...Before the difficult drives off most players. It's a nice mod, but I feel easiest difficulty should actually be easy for the noob player, and hard difficulty as hard as the author wants, provided it's humanly possible to beat it. Speaking of which, I'm still barely at the start of my hardest difficulty run-through. 4 levels down.

Difficulty of Eisenfaust or Lost Relic?

I know some are Mario and Mega's mods are very tough, but it would surprise me if Team Raycast made something so prohibitively tough.
