I like video game music, at least most of it. I don't play computer at all that much, so I haven't really heard anything outside of Wolf, Spear, RTCW, DooM and Unreal Tournament. Can't remember if there were any in CS when we used to multiplay that in the youth club. Long time ago, that.
UT has a more ambient/electronic feel, very good for something as spacy and futuristic (and indeed quite unrealistic) - that's a good one. Music in modern video games seem to be more spacy/techno/electronic and understated, which is a good thing, it doesn't affect gameplay, but it stops things from getting too tense and stressful.
I like DooM music 'cause of its metal roots. Heavy metal and old-school shooters somehow go hand in hand pretty well. 'Children of the Grave' by Black Sabbath I heard in Ariel's Golden Episodes... Perfect!
I suppose I also like Blake/Blood/whatever-music there have been in many Wolf mods over the years. WSJ's mods (especially Totenkopf SDL) has amazing, astonishing music, perfect for those types of mods.
That being said, the only place I listen to video game music is when I play. I could never listen to it out of the box. I'd rather rock out with my cock out than geek out with my freak out (or something)...
So I picked option #2.
