Video Game Violence? Empty Video Game Violence?

    http://www.tomsguide.com/us/jack-thompson-medal-of-honor-taliban-opposing-force-moh,news-8216.html

I saw on the news of the game in which EA Games wants to make the player able to play as the Taliban, shooting at US troops. Guess what, if it's shooting Russian troops, it's ok? I don't get it. One little mom even said "I don't know anyone that considers killing people on a video game ... fun."

    Lol.

I think Wolf3d is about shooting Nazis, is it not? You would be killing people? The news goes on to videotape kids saying "I like the game because of the blood and gore." People know that this is not reality, that enjoying some blowing up people's heads action doesn't mean that they want to actually blow someone up in real life.

    Opinions?

Of course I love game violence but only the silly stuff. When it comes to the super 'realistic' games like Vietcong et al I find them a little too close to the bone to be really enjoyable - I mean, people really died in such conflicts and I feel uncomfortable taking pleasure in re-enacting these battles for 'fun'. That's not to say I don't think these games have their place, it's just that, that place isn't on my games shelf! Smile

PS: I'm aware that W3D is set against Nazis in WWII but it's done in a silly manner, ridicules the perpetrators (thus, to my mind dis-empowering them) and disassociates itself from the actual atrocities that took place. Wolf 3D, to me is more like a parody of war movies rather than war itself. That's where I draw my line.

PPS: Sorry if this comes across as a little pretentious! Smile

I wanna BLOOD all over the place. I wanna have levels made out of blood, enemies made out of guts and and ripped of legs as crossbows shooting eyeballs. I wanna roast little kids, kick old grannies, steal their heads and have feature to break every finger. And of course option to decapitate ants with pizza discs. I want it so violent that i can even kill the blood cells of the blood itself! Only when the whole screen is red, i cant see anything anymore and i slide over the floor i can call it a fine funny entertaining game!
