Trail Of Schabbs SDL Demo Released | |
WLHack has released a 4 level demo from his upcoming mod 'Trail Of Schabbs'. The levels are extensive and well made. Virtually all graphics and sounds have been changed and fit well with the new music. There are many code changes including text screens, a new readthis, spikes, a 5th difficulty level, separate ammo for different weapons, textured floors/ceilings and a compass feature. More code changes are planned and will be in the final version. Vista-compatible. Available here. |

Well, I must say I really like it so far. A few things of note I liked:
1.Music. Was it all newly composed? Also, glad you had an option to turn down music, as it was really loud.
2.Loved the "overhangs" on the buildings. Nice effect.
3.Nice sound effects overall. Good stuff.
Now, for some questions/comments I have:
1.Can you manually reload your guns? Seemed tough reloading with bad guys around.
2.Mission Briefing/Intart needs some serious English lessons. Sorry, it's just my pet peeve. I like to see things properly phrased. I understand this is just the demo, but if help is needed there, I can do it.
Other than that. Nice work WLHack!!!

For a different game with a compass feature, play "Ken's Labyrinth." It's a Wolfenstein 3D clone.

It will be converted to SDL later... Also Wintersturm and False Spear will have SDL conversions.

Hey! The good old MoH Canteen sounds .
The sounds when trying to open a key door sounds strange.
I also suggest changing the black icon to the left when walking over dead guards, its annoying IMO.
And the mines are no mines?

WLHack.. Hello.. from Russia. Has downloaded a demo "Trail of Schabbs". While has stopped at the third level. All very much was pleasant. Fine music.. Good design of levels.. An interesting game.. Especially was glad to a mode "Pick/Drop guards".. During game there was only one error. At the second level after explosion flanks me has thrown "out in Windows". But it has occurred only once. It would be desirable to ask
- whether it will be possible to move Barrels?
- The player will change clothes in enemy odds and to remain not noticed?

I have to agree that I like that sound too! Something a little different than the usual wolf noise. I'd like it left in - but if you must change it, the new one better be better!

@Akuul: Picking up barrels and moving them is a feature I have though off - also the error with game
bombing out has been fixed (thanks to Lozer_42) and is fixed in full-version...
There is new sound for picking up food - but the sound for picking up canteen will stay the same
(If you don't like it - you can always replace the HEALTH1SND.WAV in sounds-folder with appropriate sound)...
