Pong turned 40 years old yesterday

Pong turned 40 years old yesterday. Pong is the great grandfather of video games. On November 29, 1972, pong was born. I think that pong goes back to the 50s also. It was being worked on in the 50s.

I think that I was born on 1993 and anybody older than me are practically living fossils and anybody younger than me don't know anything.

Are you sure? I thought that Tennis For 2 was the first documented computer or video game.

I watched a documentary on The History Channel a few years ago about video games called "High Score." They said that there are 74 Pong clone consoles.

I still have a Windows 98 computer that was almost trashed by my Dad. Tell me if you want me to email The Pong Arcade emulator and other emulators from it to you.

Tennis for 2 is like ping pong. It has oscilliscope though! Awesome!

Pong came first. Asteroids came later.

Honestly I think Pong is too boring. At least Asteroids keeps your mind sharp and has more action.

The first reason why I thought of this Pong thread was my Youtube digest email mentioned The iCade review. He didn’t mention the price of the iCade, but it comes with 1 game and you get 99 other Atari games including Pong as a download for about $10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHPve8gFYjU

The other reason why I thought of this Pong thread was that I saw on the news yesterday that Atari is having financial problems and is filing for chapter 7, 11, or 13 bankruptcy protection. They’ve been owned by different companies over the years because of financial problems. Atari must have been started by Americans who know Japanese to my understanding. When the Pong game was made, Atari was originally founded as the distributer. Atari’s logo looks like Mount Fuji. Atari is the Japanese word for check or checkmate in the game “Go” or “Iago.” The Atari 5200 was a flop in my opinion. You can play Atari 2600 games on The Atari 7800. I have Breakout for The Atari 2600, which is like Pong. We had Brickles for the original black-and-white Macintosh or Macintosh Plus, which is like Pong with better resolution. I don’t know whether The Atari Flashback 1, 2, 3, or 4 would have Pong.

Speaking of entertainment companies with financial problems or are closing, I saw articles today that Blockbuster is closing stores in Britain and 300 stores in America. At least my city still has Family Video and Redbox.

Last November, I watched “Wreck It Ralph” in a theater and I liked it. I’m thinking about maybe buying a Nintendo DS, 3DS, or iPad for The “Wreck It Ralph” game.
