In my free time between working on Overdose and my other zillion projects that I'm working on, I have been trying to recreate a game that I enjoyed playing a long while back on the Atari. I don't remember the name of this game or if I even still own it, but I remember the gameplay as a sort of hybrid of side-scrolling shooting and overhead gameplay, a genre that it created in its own.
I originally started recreating it not knowing what I would do with it once I had it. Just for kicks I made the main character B.J. Blazkowics and two enemies that are the brownshirts and the dogs. Over time, I came up with the final project:
I plan on making 8 small eposidic games on this engine (mapcounts ranging from 9-19) and hopefully everybody will enjoy it. I know that I was the only person in my house who liked the Atari game's style of gameplay, so who knows, I could be the only person on the forum here who likes this game
The first episode is here (sorry James, I said that I would let you beta test but you kinda left in a hurry from the chatroom once it was done, so I'm going to go ahead and release it anyway. I'll let you beta test the next episode) : http://www.sendspace.com/file/th6ey7
The next episode will be, of course, Operation: Eisenmann. There might also be extra weapons that the player can pick up and other features that would strongly benifit the game.
