    totenhauss bugs? Empty totenhauss bugs?

Post by SandieK Sun Jan 27, 2008 8:50 pm

Ive recently gotten around to playing the Totenhauss mod I downloaded sometime last month. FOr the most part, I like it.
Id like it even more if these bugs would go away.
No ones shooting at me til I shoot first. Not just shoot in a room and the guards react to gunfire. I have to actually shoot at an individual gaurd before he does anything. In a room with eight SS, I walked up to them one at a time and pecked them off. This is presenting an issue because 1) it makes the game boring as hell, and 2) some gaurds and dogs are posted close enough to the door that theyre blocking my entrance, yet at an angle that makes it very difficult to hit. I think i wasted about 15 bullets (pistol mode) trying to peck off a dog.

Does this mod also have no differences between locked and unlocked doors?

Do you mean "Escape From Totenhaus" by Laz Rojas? The guards all come after me in that one! The locked and unlocked doors are definitely different too.

If this isn't the mod, post a link to the one you're playing so we can figure out what's going on.

For the first floor or so, everything was fine, guards would come after me from about three rooms away. Now no one moves.

As for the doors, i thought the brown 'wood' doors were unlocked and some silver ones werent, but Ive got a couple of regular doors that wont let me in, and now Im stuck at a dead end.

Im going to play another quick round to see if it was a weird load.

Sandra, which level is the problem on and which Wolf3D exe are you using?

I've been playing the mod again and thus far the only thing I've found is that level 3 has a lot of guards that only react when they see you. Not an error though I noticed some of them you can approach from behind.

Level 4 is where Im having all the issues. It was fine for about a room or so, then they just stood there.

As of now, there are two doors that Im pretty sure are supposed to be plain 'ol unlocked doors that wont budge. The only key that I have so far opens a door that was previously locked (and looked like a locked door) door. I am unable to find any other keys, in the open, or secret and this keeps me from progressing.

I wonder if my computer if effecting the coding. Last time I ran it, it crashed when I tried to close the game.

At this point, I think its my computer, and I have a pretty good idea as to why. My Wolf mods are installed on an external drive. When I installed them, the drive was F:
As of right now, the drive thinks its G:
Im about to switch it back to what its supposed to and see if that helps.
The more recent issues that have popped up today have been no sound at all running normal, and just plain not loading with the VDMS thing.

Though I did briefly run Episode 2, and the officers shot at me as soon as the door opened like they were supposed to.

EDIT I: This would work so much better if the drive would actually come up as the F: path instead of G: Theres nothing at F!

EDIT II: Ep 2 works fine in normal mode. Dont feel like trying to run it in VDMS only to have my comp crash again

I just played through level 4 and didn't get any problems with it. The Wolf3D exe I used was the Activision one.

Ive got one saved game on ep2, and Ive started ep1 from the beginning.
Except for the fact I keep dying, everythings working fine.

At this point, Id like to take back my comment about inattentive gaurds being boring. I tended not to die as much then. Razz Laughing
