Quick SOD question Empty Quick SOD question

Post by SandieK Tue Jan 15, 2008 4:44 pm

Im trying to figure out if I accidently overwrit my SOD with something else. Mission One looks like your regular Wolf3d map and graphics. However, 2 and 3 are completely different, and if I didnt know any better, Id say I accidently overrode the main SOD code again.

Except I know better. I made that error once with the first mod I ever downloaded (on Wolf3d) and have been very carefull since. Plus, with the exception of the main Wolf and SOD games, everything is kept on an external drive. Until yesterday I had never played Mission 2 or 3, and yet my two save spots were already there.
If I accidently stuck a "Needs SOD to run" on it, wouldnt it have taken over all three Missions? hmm

I cant get a vid or a screenshot of what Im running into in 2 and 3, but the color blue shows up alot. Theres even a blue tint to the dobermans (not shepards) that try and eat me. Guards are in green and shout "Alarm!", SSs are in black, and I havent run into officers and zombies yet.

Anyone have any ideas as to what I did?

I was going to say that I don't think any of the SOD missions or regular SOD have guards that color.

I know. I figured everything would be more or less the same graphic wise, but its not.
Apparently I did screw up somewhere, I just have no idea where.
And I have no idea how my two save spots got on there when Ive never played them before.

    Oh well.

Aren't those the "Lost Episodes" (I'm not sure about the name) by FormGen? There were Return to Danger and Ultimate Challenge missions, with altered graphics and sounds which seem to match your description.

Yep, you're definately playing the Lost episodes. These were licensed out after SOD was released to an external company who made their own versions. I don't particularly think much of them but a lot of the graphics have been used in a lot of mods, especially the doors and elevator.

Id love to know how that happened, because I dont have any of the mods listed above.
Was it just in the SOD download from IDSoftwares download site?

All you have to do to make saved games appear in your menu is to copy the SAVEGAM*.SOD files to your game's folder. They may have been from when you played the original Spear of Destiny. If you didn't delete the files, they will still be there after you applied the Mission 2/3 files.
