Storytelling about me Empty Storytelling about me

Post by Officer-Michael John Wed Feb 03, 2016 2:56 am

I am fighting so hard things. I do not understand it. For example: I am a patient does not have to think about colds and stuff but I'm autistic! I am not professional coding, therefore, help me. If I did not like condescending.

    Quites from DHW forum:

    Thank you.

I haven't said anything about this, but Officer-Michael John is the most annoying person I've ever encountered on the Internet. I've found it so irritating how he has been flooding these forums with hundreds of topics asking how to do things no one cares about. And his messages look like they have been machine-translated. I haven't said anything about it, because I'm nice. Write by Matthew.

First of all, you've been repeatedly warned by me and other moderators for duplicate posting and spamming. Secondly, I warned you for being warned about duplicate posting, but rather than complying you went ahead and mouthed off to me. WRONG MOVE. However, I went easy on you and gave you a two-day suspension for your insubordination, but the day you come back you start acting like an asshole. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

    [EDIT]
I think we should remove his link. No need to advertise his forum here. Write by TheTalentedMrLeo

I did not like these behaviors. Please help me.

    Thanks:Officer-Michael John

Post by Guest Wed Feb 03, 2016 6:05 am

Thank you for being open about your autism.  I try never to play doctor or guess at why people are the way that they are because I know that until one understands what is going on under the surface that one can ever know.  Yet there have been a lot of people in the community over the past 20 years and all of them have their own individual issues and I can think of many who are autistic (various forms – if ‘forms’ is the correct term?).  I have found it surprising that some of those prior members of the community were treated with respect (anyone remember Howling Wolf?) and yet you are treated differently.  There is the additional problem of the language barrier, but in this day and age that shouldn’t be an issue either.  Unless of course one is intolerant.

I don’t expect people to practice tolerance.  While I wish they would, that is a personal choice for which I cannot judge.  No one is forced to read to your posts and if people have an issue with trying to understand what you mean then that is their problem.  Yet I can’t help but wonder if some people read your posts hoping to get angry.  Some people seek any reason to hate.  Other people insist on order in an order-less society – a society that could never live up to their exacting expectations.  The sad reality is that some people in this world are jerks and they ALL own computers.  I realize that moderators and administrators have to read practically everything so they are in an exclusive group as they have accepted the charge to create some semblance of order, but without tolerance and understanding moderation is useless.  And hey, let’s face it… there is no more an ‘exclusive group’ than those who run DHW.  I too left DHW because of SOME of those who have been left in charge and solely how they treated fellow members.  I will not go into my personal issues any further as I have not directly discussed this with those who have pissed me off.  I will say that you do have my sympathy.

I just realized that I show intolerance towards the intolerant.  Hypocrisy thy name is ack.

I will admit that the major reason that all of this makes me sad is that I have seen so many projects get cancelled because of idiotic or loathing comments made by the community.  Yes, authors should develop a thick skin towards criticism if they plan to flaunt their artistic side, but many don’t.  I don’t think anyone realizes just how many unreleased projects I have in my possession (none of which I will ever discuss as per agreement with their authors) for which I have been asked to review or contribute.  None of these will ever see the light of day.  It kills me seeing people walk away from so much planning and hard work.  So it goes.

Most of the old guard have made themselves available to help people with their projects in some capacity.  The general rule of thumb most of us follow is that we not be asked to do practically everything, that our time be respected, and that the person making the request makes a legitimate attempt to try to do things him/herself.  I will only speak for myself in this regard, but I think it is okay that those offering help be allowed to set some limitations.  Maybe I am missing something, but I don’t understand those who don’t respect that.

The beauty that can be created when we all work together is wonderful (DHWTC is an example, as is Beyond Mutantstein SE/AESE).  I truly miss those days.

In closing, Mr. OMJ all I can say is that you have two options as I see it.  The first is to develop a thick skin and don’t let the bastards win.  The second option is to go running off screaming into the night.  I hope you manage to pick the first option.

Yet after 20 years of fighting the insolent I find myself screaming and running into the night.

Hello, Officer-Michael John.  I’m glad that you’re comfortable telling us that you have autism.  I thought that you have a language translation problem & that you’re dyslexic.  Now I know that you might not be.  One of the girls that I went to school with apparently has dyslexia & is almost deaf.

I know people with Asperger’s Syndrome or another kind of autism.  Autism movies include Rainman, Mozart & The Whale, & Adam.  Fictional characters who you’d think might have Asperger’s include Lisa from The Simpsons, Cliff Claven from Cheers, Max from Parenthood, & Wilson from Home Improvement.  Famous people who could have had undiagnosed autism or Asperger’s Syndrome include author Jane Austen, sculptor/painter Michelangelo, American President Thomas Jefferson, & an Irish politician that wanted Ireland to secede from the British Empire.

As far as making Wolf 3D mods, I think that I want to make 1 or 2 mods & cancel my plans for the rest.  Life is hectic & I can’t have making video games crowd all my time out.  Keeping track of every Wolfenstein 3D, Spear of Destiny, Rise of The Triad, Wolfendoom, & 3D Realms mod is about enough for me to do.  I’ve got other responsibilities & other hobbies.

I have noticed that some mods made even by other people have screenshots & are canceled for one reason or another.  I think that some are lost causes or that they take too long to finish.  ***SIGH.***  Some of my ideas are lost causes.  I think that you are having too many Wolfenstein projects at once or confusing people by asking too many questions.

Officer-Michael John, I know that you are 18-years-old.  What do you want to study in college or do for a job?

Both. You know, by the way, that created a lot of videos of a half. In addition to this I can also learn computer assembly and maintenance worker.

Have you heard of Jim Carrey as Andy Kaufman from Man in The Moon (Or a lot of Jim Carrey movies anyways), Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Gilbert Godfrey, Michael Jackson, Vincent Van Gogh, Scientology Founder L Ron Hubbard, Steve Urkel from Family Matters, or Napoleon Dynamite?  They are annoying.  Robert Ripley from Ripley's Believe It Or Not is crazy good, but not annoying.

Storytelling about me Empty Re: Storytelling about me

Post by Officer-Michael John Sun Feb 07, 2016 2:09 am

Interestingly, I've written about me in the DHW board:

The worst part about is that he apparently either can't or won't (assuming the latter) learn from his mistakes or acknowledge any of this. He is still around over on the Haven forum, with very little change in his behavior.

Apparently Michael-John has caught wind of this: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and explains his shortcomings on his apparent autism. I can follow that to a degree as I'm on the spectrum myself. A lot of us are. Richter Belmont too. We all started out very defensively, sometimes not writing coherently and such... But we've moved on. I sincerely hope Michael-John has it in him to move on as well. The language barrier certainly doesn't help. I've never quite clearly figured out whether or not he understands English but cannot put it together himself, or has as little understanding for the language (as in, when we respond to his posts) as is evident by his posts. Being of non-English language origin myself there is indeed a struggle in learning the fluidity of the language, at least early on in the process. But these days English is all over the place. At least when you're using a computer.

Agree 100 % ... The thing about the internet is, you have no knowledge of the person typing the words you read. You are simply just a barrage of letters in a visualized box of text, and not really a person with good days and bad days, good ideas and bad ideas etc... Had I known of Michael-John's autism I think I could see a pattern, but there is still a way to get around and get better with your stubbornness and the whole built-in thing most of us have with not wanting to listen to anyone teach us anything. Such is life... You need to be able to open up and listen at some point. Unless you live in a bubble of course, and those closest to you manage to go about their days without having to face the actual problem. Write by Thomas (Wolfer King)

I've been in Officer-Michael John's Shoe as well when I first joined here. Sure it wasn't easy having Asperger (its another form of Autism). But over the time I've been here I've been learned quite a bit from my mistake and misscoming, sure the internet is full with assholes and jerks but that is what the internet is to be honest, I haven't been taking criticism well when i first joined here but I did Move on and it makes me sad to see people with autism in anyway get treated with disrespect, rude and tons of criticism but its also a learning experience even for myself when working on mods or trying to get help.

Here is what I think about. "No one is this world is perfect, there is no definition of a perfect person, your perfect the way you are and you should be proud of it!" Write by Richter Belmont

A major issue is that he seems to have a problem with his memory that he's not aware of. He'll progress for a day or two, and then it seems as though his mind is suddenly wiped clean. If you follow his posts in chronological order, his content makes a lot more sense if you test out this theory. Write by Tricob

What do you make of what they're saying? Its okay to admit if you have a problem. Nobody is perfect. Do you think they make valid points or does it come across as a disrespect?

If you prefer not to discuss this issue further do let us know.

This topic makes me reflect on my own communication style and whether it falls under the umbrella of autism at all. I know I have difficulty discussing non-technical matters at times, both in discussion forums and real life.

OMJ, i know it's never been easy to have some form of autism. I actually have a few (good!) friend of mine, who did have it, but they still count normal people for me, no matter what. And you're in this list, so please forgive me if i ever wrote or said something bad that wasn't really your fault!

As for you english problem, I suggest using internet translators less frequently, because they're not very accurate some times. (there is a hungarian translator, called "Webfordítás", which is the worst (and in fact the funniest) one of the bunch.....xD)

The Wolf3d community is interesting. So many people have Asperger's, etc. On one hand, the Haven (aptly named) differentiates itself by being more open than DHW. On the other hand, often I am not dealing with people who are like myself (or maybe a younger version of myself). I don't think I have Asperger's.

Anyways. Officer-Michael John, staying here is fine as long as you do not plagiarize. Please be careful about using other people's code. When in doubt, ask permission. This is the line. Don't cross it. I ask the others to try to get along if possible, if anything, for my sake so I don't have to clean up any messes. Just be awesome to each other. If at all possible. Wink

I've been gone for so long, I find it hard to process what has happened to this place, and what's happening right now.
