Screen resolution when playing SDL on laptop

I remember a couple of days ago, zooming around Leiche Soldat trying to progress - playing it the second time now. Yesterday I wanted to move on, but as I opened the EXE, all of a sudden my screen looked like this:

Does anybody know what to do here? This also happens with MapEdit. My older Toshiba laptop which I normally use for modding and playing has just "passed away" - that is, the power adapter after 3 mends finally broke, so it no longer works. I have no place to do my Wolfing! Help me please! scared

Hmm - looks like your laptop doesn't like running in low resolutions. Try running it at 960x600, maybe? It won't be perfect but it should be better than that.
