2 may 2014 GU MVD of Ukraine in Odesa oblast made a statement that as a result of a fire in the Odessa House of trade unions killed 38 people.. 45 people were reported missing as a result of clashes in the city centre and the fire of the House of trade unions.. How many people were killed that day is not exactly known... But all murders work of Ukrainian nationalists

Too many photos, very little info. Big red letters, no comprendo.

First, I think some of the photos and images are too gory (politically regardless), and shouldv'e come in a SPOILER tag and only after warning for shocking images. Akuul - to your notice.

I think as you show only one side of this story, this is more of a propaganda thread than offtopic political discussion thread, and I don't think this fits the forum or should be on it, it's not objective reporting from the "streets". Sure when there is noone here to represent the other side to balance things up are create any balanced discussion...or discussion as all.

I can be suspected for being non-objective on the issue being born in Ukraine, so if Admin of this forum prefers other moderator to deal with this thread - I will respect that. I take no action at this point.

Not only I was born in Ukraine - I live in Israel. So I KNOW - from first-hand experience how media, world madie and sure media of one of the sides of conflict (Middle East one on my case) - can totally distort the reality. I know that - because I know palestinian propaganda lies and distortions, and world media misrepresentations....vs.the reality. Those include all sort of lies, from cause-effect reversing, to cause ingnoring or replacing, to context misrepresentations, to photoshop to fake/stages photos, photos from other zones of conflict or old photos, conspiracy theories etc etc etc.....etc......

I also (sometimes) watch FIRST-HAND russian TV channels and news programs (they are translated in Israel, unlike Ukrainian ones) and see the level of full Putinism (to a Cult of Putin really), Putin TV control, propaganda, extreme nationalism and reality distortions there....So...

I also have see Ukranian reports of facebook, Odnoklassniki....I also have friends in Ukraine (whom I totally trust, childhood friends) reporting me first hand, and even my girlfriend just came from 2 weeks in Ukraine and even got invitation while there to sing at Maidan....I told her not to...so she didn't.

So....I know that every conflict has 2 sides...and usually the more "right one" (relatively) is misrepresented in the media. As long as Ukraine is under fire and not Russia - sorry, it's hard for me to believe russians or jews are the victims there and not Ukrainians...Especially as the context is Ukrainian political change and attempt ot FREE from Russian control into European Union...

You see images...you don't see who killed, you don't see the context....who started....

Also, regarding Odessa - I KNOW, from a VERY detailed report with images minute per minute (!!!), videos, and even detailed map of the events - who was the real agressor there...and it was crazy and armed RUSSIAN nationlists who attacked, with support of the police - a group of peaceful and armless Ukranian soccer fans...who later called for Maidan backup to protect them, but russians where armed, violent and initiated all the conflict till they lost it and retreated to that building that was burned...

So....stop with lies...Akuul. Try to get....reports from both sides and analize which is more proven, more truthful, looks more backuped by direct evidence.

Akuul, this isn't a dumping ground for your beliefs. If you are going to post about Ukraine you need to talk about it, not post images. I also agree with Doomjedi that when you post gory images, no explanations, and big red words, it looks more like propaganda.

Do not put words in our mouths that "John Kerry is one of our idols."  I'm an American, couldn't stand him, and didn't vote for him in 2004.

If Akuul thinks that each and every person west of Belarus absolutely love everything that's happening in Ukraine and support the European Union and the United States, then he's an idiot. Not necessarily brainwashed... It's just blind faith, blind hatred, for which Russia has been known since 1917 - and probably before as well. You know, I dig the revolution. Monarchy is/was a crime against freedom and liberty in general for the individual. What came after did not better this... And we're still talking about this subject in a critical sense nearly one hundred years later!

I do not support nationalism in the Ukraine. I oppose the EU. I think the US is a pain in the ass politically on and off. But I also do not support bigotry, oligarchy, national conservatism and corruption. It has been 25 years since 1989... Almost 25 years since the fall of the USSR. Honestly, I cannot understand why this hasn't happened earlier. And I still cannot fathom how Belarus and Transnistria hasn't gone completely amok yet.

Speaking of genocide in the Ukraine - the Holodomor? Ring any bells?

I sincerely hope Russia and all other pan-Slavic nations or whatever will not sink to the same level as the Middle East.

There has been no physical barrier for the quarter of a century. Don't you think it's time to tear down the mental barrier as well?

P.S. I am not here to lock horns with Akuul. Obviously, being Russian he hears news about the Ukraine that we do not hear about over here. Again, I do not think what is going on in the Ukraine is feasible or fair, but I find it so hard to discuss this subject 'cause I have absolutely no angle on this. It is very alien to me, luckily, and I suppose, all my fellow Western Europeans. I rest my case. I was honestly appalled when the European Union blindly supported the new government in the Ukraine --- but there is little you can do when you're just a guy on the street. I think Akuul feels the same way. At least, that's one thing we have in common. I hope.

Let this be amongst Russians, Ukrainians and all people of the Don area. I do not hope that each and every Russian carries hatred towards each and every Western European, because I sincerely do not support any political stance that has happened on this subject thus far.
