I am Sorry Empty I am Sorry

Post by Guest Thu Dec 12, 2013 12:34 pm

    I am sorry.

In the past, I did not really make my own maps. I took maps from other map sets.
From now on, I will make my own maps.

Over the Christmas season, I will be in the process of redoing all of these Mods that I created and releasing them as special editions. The Doomsday Special Edition will take some time to release.

Over the Christmas season, I will give credit to all of the Doomsday maps that are not mine. I thought I had given credit to them by saying that they were from the Dome.

I am going to work on Wolfenstein 3D Rise of the Triad the Alpha of the Omega first before I release the other special editions.

Please message me over Christmas Break with the links to your game downloads if you are updating the readme files with credits.

You're still making Rise of The Triad (1994) games?  Go to 3drealms.com and click on downloads.  Go to Rise of The Triad.  One of the links is Birger's ROTT page.  Birger doesn't know me yet.  I want to email him over Christmas break with ROTT files that he probably doesn't have yet from a third party CD that I bought in about 1997.  He has an upload on his web site of 15 megabytes or so of all of The ROTT 1994 game mods that he could find all in one file.  Maybe you and I could contribute to that.

    Well, two things:

    1) Do you know why nobody caught that fraud that went on? Because few people actually played it. This means you need to work harder to make people feel compelled to play it. Storyline is storyline, but I better dig the game design. And I get bored easily.

    2) This isn't the Olympics, a tournament, this isn't even a Skyrim modding community with tons of people. This is the Wolf community. You gain nothing fancy by releasing more mods, or even super good mods. There's really no incentive to copy entire levels. You just waste everybody's time.

    I am Sorry Empty WolfBel

Post by stathmk Fri Dec 13, 2013 1:51 pm

First of all, I new that JPB was using WolfBel 1, 2, or 3 levels at least at first because JPB asked Brian for permission and one of the 2 of them told me.  It's not as if JPB was dishonest about it.

JPB, do a search for Wolf3D for Dummies for dark_wizzie's pdf or Word file about level design.

Well then Jpb needs to explain better what is going on. There is no way to tell from the original post. Ah, the level design guide. My god, I've forgotten about that.

I am Sorry Empty I might not even post JPB's levels to wolfensteingoodies.com

Post by stathmk Tue Jun 10, 2014 11:41 am

I know I posted Amazing Grace one year and I think it has WolfBel 1, 2, or 3 levels with Brian's permission.  I might not even post JPB's levels anymore to wolfensteingoodies.com.  He's bothered me enough.  I think that he's probably not cut out for Wolfenstein 3D modding anymore.  At the college that I went to, I'm not quite sure who committed plagiarism or why.  The professors told us that anybody who does plagiarism gets kicked out of the college.  JPB is still here because Dark_wizzie is too nice to ban him for level plagiarism.

I'm going to either message JPB tonight or tomorrow or continue this at The Escape From Grosse Prison thread.

I sourced the dome for the levels. It is not as if I passed them off as my own. I just cited the dome though, nothing else. Eventually I will go back and get this stuff straight. It will probably be Christmas when I have the chance to get everything updated. I need to update WWII 3D and cite the sprite makers of that game. The current maps that I am creating from Escape from Grosse Prison onward will be my own maps.

Wolfenstein 3D does not relate to the current job market at all. I already knew this Matt before you told me. I would never put Wolfenstein 3D mapping/modding on a resume. You do not do that. Putting Wolfenstein 3D mapping/modding on a resume would be illogical. I do not devote myself to Wolfenstein 3D 24/7 either. I devote myself to other things. I am currently pursuing a degree in Information Systems Security which does not relate to video game design and video game modding. The programming aspects in this field might, but I have never learned C ++/SDL knowledge in college. I have learned Visual Basic and Java. I have a basic knowledge of visual basic and java.

In college, there is something called citing sources. I thought I had done this for Doomsday just by saying the maps came from the Dome. I guess I did not do this correctly. To me this is not passing off levels as if they were mine.

This isn't a college paper. People's time is limited and if they find out they're wasting time playing previously-made levels, they'll just turn to some other author because there are more mods out there to play than can be played. This is why the mod author needs to make sure their work is quality work that stands out else nobody will play it.

Thank you Eric. This is not a college paper. I agree with you on that. I would not call this plagiarism since I did not pass it off as my own. I credited stuff that was not mine. World War II 3D needs some work though. I need to correct the credits for that I think. Let me check.

I am Sorry Empty ...more questions than answers...

Post by stathmk Wed Jun 11, 2014 2:09 pm

When you typed that you wanted to create 300 video games in a year, then I thought that it created more questions than answers.  Wolfenstein like all things should be done in moderation.  My understanding or misunderstanding was that you wanted to do it to impress somebody, for an online portfolio, or put it on your resume.  People do have computer graphics portfolios online to get jobs or promotions.

Thank you for setting me straight that you aren’t majoring in web design.  For some reason I thought that you had gotten a professional web site design certificate in Suffolk?

You are correct that it isn’t a college paper or computer art for a college class.  Maybe that isn’t my good comparison.  I saw a thread on Diehard Wolfers that such-and-such (not you) plagiarized 57 out of 60 levels in their hyped mod.  One of the Diehard Wolfers typed that somebody else (again, not you) plagiarized his multiple level sets and he hated it.  Think about how you would feel if somebody copied your levels without your knowledge or permission.

I believe that JPB and I both feel bad for what we’ve typed recently in this argument about 300 games.

I have a Certified Internet Webmaster Certification. I am an Internet Business Associate, a Site Development Associate, and a Network Technology Associate. These certifications are below a web design certification which CIW offers. I plan on getting the Web Design certification later.

***Stunned silence.***   confused   I didn't know that you had 3 Associate's Degrees.  Maybe I misinterpreted you.  I thought that you maybe were taking that semester off in the hospital because you were in that car accident and learning to walk again.  I remember that in the screenshot of your alternate reality chatroom that Atina or Chokster typed, "Didn't you lose a leg in a car wreck?"  I remember you mentioning that you were learning to walk again, but I don't remember you mentioning losing a leg.  One of my relatives was in a semi accident in January, had pins in his feet and leg, surgeries, and was walking again in April or May.  My cousin's fiance died in a car-semi crash in March.
