They were all rather classic mods from authors who peaked at a timeframe when code/hex edits were just beginning to quickly become more commonplace, and they all give me good memories, but what one of them is best of all? I say Schabbs 2000 because I think Gary Ragland always had the slight edge on mapping over Barry Christian, and it's got more than twice the quantity of AH without losing any of the quality.

I think AH has the edge over S2000 but only by a little. Of the 2 BC sets I prefer TRTN over Armageddon. Both BC sets have too much ammo and health and are not as well designed as the 2 Gary sets though they are still very good.

I don't really see the difference in design quality of Gary's levels, new30 excluded. And thus I simply see S2000 as the best because it has the most maps, and it feels most like an 'adventure', which is always something I felt Barry was going for even back to TSDT.

As I playtested the SDL of TRTN just last week, I can agree that Barry's maps often have a weakness of having too much health/ammo, especially if secrets are considered. Another thing I noticed is that, the vast majority of the time, enemies are simply presented straight in your face. There weren't that many dynamic fights or crossfire situations I can recall overall; it was often quite easy to just open the door and shoot to kill.

Still, the levels are designed well, and Barry mentioned in one thread on DHW that he was only eleven or twelve when he made these games, so some slack has to be given for that reason alone. I wonder what Gary was when he started to map.
