I'm looking to make a sort of semi-list of what I'd call forgotten, old but good mapsets/mods. A few simple qualifications:
1. Release must be before Spear Resurrection (11/27/2001). That really sticks in my mind as a mod that truly 'divided' Wolfenstein's modding history between older and newer times. And it was right before the official launch of the Dome, too.
2. It has to be a mod/mapset from an author that is relatively little-talked about nowadays, certainly not anyone who is still clearly in the community, and not someone commonly referred to in general.
I've come up with the following candidates so far (haven't played all them but made a preliminary judgement):
-Mapsets by Pablo Dictter. Most of them were only about five levels, but he did about half a dozen of them. Small, compact design.
-cc1 sets (both Wolf3D and SoD). These date back to 1993 and look not half bad at all.
-MP Entertainment mapsets: MPWolf (one Wolf3D episode) and Spearmpixsod. Haven't played, but looks like all tasty designs.
-Temporary Insanity. I'll never forget this myself though, as IMO it's a classic in some respects. But not commonly talked about really, so I included it.
-Operation Panzerschiff (and NeoWolf). Same author (Ben Blaufurb I think). Both partial conversions (27 and 10 levels respectively). Designs look mostly small compact but still potentially nice.
-Operation Overkill. Episode 1 replacement (but not shareware-compatible), VERY old but looks like high design standard especially for the time.
-The Final Solution. I don't see Tristian around anymore and I actually have a bit of a dilemma as to if I should go with v2.0 or 3.0 (beta). Either way it seems somewhat forgotten.
Can you think of any other good ones and do you have thoughts pertaining to ones I mentioned? If so, any input/commentary would be appreciated and should contribute to what I'm trying to go for.
