    Wolf4SDL coding help Empty Wolf4SDL coding help

    Okay it's time for me to try this to see how much I learned in C++ so far. I wanna first try to set up the Wolf3d EXE. I have all the necessary files on my desktop (for now).

    Would anyone here be willing to guide me through this? I will take screenshots regarding what I'm doing in the Borland C++ program.

    I think it's 3.1. I got it from the Wolf3d Dome. However, I don't know how to use it. They say it's one of the better programs to make a Wolf3d mod.

    I might have less trouble if Visual Studio can do more than just compile the codes. What compiling program do you use for Wolf4SDL, Chokster?

    I'll take a look at Dev C++.

    It will create an EXE that does not run in Win9x, only in NT-based Windows versions. This applies to VS 2008 and up.

    Alright. I got some help from RayCast Forums. I'm using Dev C++ and it indeed is much easier to set up Wolf4sdl.exe

    I have successfully compiled Wolf4sdl.exe with WLHack's instructions. However, SDL.dll is missing when i'm trying to compile and run, which I already know and will be easy to find from other mods, but WHERE should I put the SDL.dll file at?

    EDIT: Okay, apparently you don't need to compile and run. Just compile to get the EXE. Now here's the next problem, where do I get all the .WL6 files (AUDIOHED, AUDIOT, VGADICT, VGAGRAPH, VSWAP, etc.) in order to help make this all run?

    EDIT #2: Okay it all works! Hooray for me!

    I'm very sorry for the double post, but I don't this topic to die yet.

    NEXT EXERCISE: I wanna try my first coding change. How do you set up in-game messages, like when you pick up an item or activate a pushwall? WSJ's tutorial only works on the DOS.
