I do use the portal but on days when we get a lot of posts I also use the 'View posts since last visit' option.

I voted for Useful. My bookmark is saved for the portal and I always give it a quick scan before popping over to the forum. It's a nice portal - though the Vocabulary box hasn't been updated since I joined!
