I think the live version (or "video" version) is better than the album cut - it has that nice snare shot break in the chorus.ronwolf1705 wrote:Kate Bush - Them Heavy People

I always like the 'Efteling' version, but that's mostly because it's set in Holland and I recognize most of the spots in that video (the theme park is relatively near my home).

Re: What music are you listening to? Part II
That's interesting. Efteling looks a bit like a haunted theme park. But I could be wrong... The YouTube videos aren't top notch, now are they... Seems to me she was a bit dogged around early on, but unlike the other female performers in those days, she stood up for herself and retained total control of anything that had to do with her music. And that's admirable.

The park has a fairy tale theme, but if I recall correctly most videos were filmed around the haunted mansion.

I agree. She made some specials early on in her career (appearing on SNL, BBC winter special and perhaps a couple more) and did her only tour around that time too. It's great that she took control of her music, it's another reason why I think she might just be the best female artist ever. She's the complete package; she has an amazing voice, writes her own songs, can play an instrument, is a great dancer and imo a beautiful women to top it off. Not something that can be said of a lot of female (mainstream) artists.

My thoughts exactly. We've got the technology all right, but the artistry and expression... That's down the drain as of now, no doubt. But she's still around. Some say Kate will release new material this year. 2005's "Aerial" is marvelous. Truly a volumous pallette of colours that just splash and rocks a black-and-white world.

I have heard those rumours too. It could be a pretty good music year for me personally if both Kate Bush and the Red Hot Chili Peppers release a new album.

Re: What music are you listening to? Part II
I found a leaked version of Richard Marx's new acoustic album "Stories to tell" online and have been listening to it over the last couple of weeks. It's basically a greatest hits album but all the songs are done acoustically with just basic instruments and his fantastic voice. The songs have been changed a little but not too much so as not to sound anything like the original versions.
This is well worth a listen when it comes out if you like his music.
