I thought I should do the conventional thing and introduce myself here. I am an old geek who enjoys old geeky games! I've played around with Wolf3d for years now but only recently looked further into the scene. I've been a lurker/low profile participator in the Doom scene since the source went open source (my first exposure to Doom was on the Amiga!) and thought it was about time I saw what was going on in Doom's daddy's world! So far, I have found it to be a small but very friendly community even if it is nigh impossible to join Die Hard Wolfers!

I'm more of a player than a mapper but I hope to dabble in some orthogonal outings as I become more familiar with the game and it's editors. Regardless, I am a positive and enthusiastic guy so expect nothing but niceness (and probably a lot of questions as I acclimatise!) from this noob poster.

yes, it's related to your email address then.

Schabbs might be better to answer this question as to what email addresses can be accepted.

If you have a @live.com email address, please try that one as it is not restricted on DHW.

However, several people have reported problems getting past the registration page anyway regardless of the email address used so please let me know if it works.

Right, okay, I set up a Live account (live.co.uk) and tried to register with that. The problem now seems to be that the page sits loading for ages when I hit the Submit after I've filled in my details. After a while it times-out and I get this message:

Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): Unknown error.

Occasionally I also get this one:

message_die() was called multiple times. This isn't supposed to happen. Was message_die() used in page_tail.php?

I have tried to register using IE8 just in case the problem was with Chrome (my browser of choice). Any ideas?

Thanks for that, Per-Scan. I will bring it up again with the main DHW administrator and try to find out what is being done about it.

Schabbs has now reported this at DHW.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, hopefully we can get it sorted out quickly.

Just a quick update on the DHW registration problems. The main admin has identified 2 separate issues and will be working on them as fast as he can. However, he said that the main registration process issue may take a while to fix.

Just thought I should give a heads up. I have just tried to register at DHW again using both my Live account and my yahoo account. I still get the same error...

As you can see, the situation has not changed since I last reported on it.

The main admin has started to work on one of the problems but hasn't fixed it yet.

Cool. At least something's happening...

I wonder how many potential sibscribers have been scared off by this? I suppose in some ways it's a blessing in disguise as most folk will end up here and this board has a very different atmosphere - the Yin to the DHW Yang so to speak.
