Greetings everyone. My apologies for making my first post a question.
I've recently come upon Wolf3d, by way of Doom. My only frustration is forced turning speed associated with the mouse. This is made worse by the movements forward in back when using the y axis.
I would be satiated with the disabling of the vertical axis. I would be tickled pink with true mouse turning. This is that *one* thing that I can't stand in video games, being forced to use peripherals a certain way, the reason I do not play console fps games. I do certainly realize that mouse aiming would make the game significantly easier, to the point of changing the experience drastically. Likewise I realize I am going against the grain of most keyboard users, perhaps even infringing in a way.
So I ask, how could one implement horizontal mouse look in Wolf3d, or if that is not possible, how could one disable the vertical axis.Would I need to source dive?
I've already played some Wolf3d Doom .wads, so this isn't about playing the original games, but about similar experiences across all level sets.
At the least, I will purchase a trackball mouse and rip out the vertical sensors. At most I will have to learn to source dive.
Either way, I cannot get away from Wolf3d, not now...
