Is this forum dead?

I've been coming to this forum most days ove the last couple of months and I've seen the number of posts dwindle away to there being almost nothing each day. Has something happened, where did averyone go?

I fear that I am a culprit. I was burning hard into the Wolf3d scene again, making a very in depth mod and I just burned myself out I think. Now I'm involved making a Neverwinter Nights mod. When I get burned out of that I will finish up my wolf mod. Only 3 levels to go for the first episode release! I apologize. That's how I have always been. Go gung ho at something and then burn myself out...

I remember we had a big drop off last February too but not this bad. I've had nothing much to post from the Dome though I'm waiting for a new mod and the source code from the mod 'Frayed'. Both will hopefully be done by the weekend.

Meh, seriously, losing posts is very frustrating.
But uh... I don't know where posts went.

Seeing the amount of posts each day is getting crazy. The amount of people that are actually logged in per 99 hours is a very short list. I thought about it, but I don't think the smaller amount of Wolf3d Mods coming out is the main culprit here. There simply are just less posts and less people even bothering to log in.

Sorry, I have been quite busy as of late. Between some family deaths and the fact that I will be moving to South Carolina very soon, I have had little time to do anything "fun". Hopefully, sometime in these next few months I will be able to finish the last few levels to Wolfenstein Umbrella Beginnings!!!

I haven't been back for about a week but I'm pleasently surprised to see a number of new posts in that time. It's better than when i was coming every 2nd day and all that was new was Brian's posts of stuff at the Dome.

I'm rarely on here since I haven't been the most social Wolfer for... Well, a couple of years, I guess. But interest comes and goes. As for right now, I'm back in business again, but who knows when the pause button will be hit again? Besides, this is a small forum and has always been, so constant activity is a far fetch. But it's all right, time takes time and all that.

What are you talking about? There's a lot of visitors each day, and a great deal of posts. Define "dead" and look at what it's about - Wolf 3D. Come on. I don't think there are thousands and thousands of people on to that thing, but I guess that's fine in its place, in that way the forums are more controlled and the behavior, tone and outlook for newcomers is more calm and open.

No, this forum isn't "dead". You should try and visit the DieHard Wolfers' forum. That one's on the barrels right now...

I've always been wondering why the world should need two different forums where there's such a small community in the first place. Both forums share about 90% of the same user population, except for those who can't join since they're having only hotmail or such, like myself

That's exactly it. Choice. If there were more than a couple of boards the community would fragment and probably dissolve but having an alternative is certainly welcomed by me. As you state DHW is pretty tight about allowing people to sign up. It's also a slightly more tech orientated forum where most posts are about coding and ripping. Here, on the other hand, it's easy to sign up and anyone is welcome. It's also a lot easier going for those of us uninitiated in coding and SDL... It's a good thing this alternative to DHW exists otherwise I'd have nowhere to discuss Wolf and meet new like-minded people!

And, just to be on topic, this forum is nowhere near dead. Just look at the ROTT scene to see what dead is about! Even when there's nothing much to talk about in Wolf terms I still find myself coming here most days and finding new posts as this small community is strong enough to talk about other things rather than falling apart just because there's no new mod released this week... (Well, except WUB 2! )

Looking back, last year May was the worst month, posting wise. Almost double digit posts, scared the freakshow outta me. But hey, now that Wolfercooker, Tenamk, and Per-Scan are here, there's more to talk about, right?

Hmm, today was bad. Only 4 posts so far. I was hoping we'd break a new record for posts in a month. Too sad that I didn't jot down the statistics of the forum back in its early days, full of posts.

Indeed. A small community is always going to have quiet spells. There's probably a few like me. I've been lurking for the past few days but haven't really had much to say - I'm still here though!
