As you've discovered, the way to do this is to make a custom group with the desired color, and add him? her? into it. Generally it's best to set the group to hidden, so it doesn't show up in the bottom of the main page (as the function was intended to be color change, not custom group, the group is just a means to achieve the color change).

Princess Peach, would you rather I set the group to hidden?

I found out 15 minutes ago that hot pink is actually #FF69B4 or rgb(255,105,180).  The second post at https://community.mybb.com/thread-121538.html links to https://community.mybb.com/thread-73891.html .  So if you wanted the neon green glow for username Angel, the hexadecimal code is listed there.  The hexidecimal code for hot pink of #FF69B4 must go in.  I'm not finding where it says, "Username Style," so I hope that Erica finds it for me?  I must be missing something and I can't change it to the neon glow.

Users & Groups -> Groups -> Group Administration -> cog wheel for the group to edit -> Group Member's Color

I changed it to #FF69B4 .

Oh, so that’s a small cog wheel!?  I thought it was a small yellow Sun!

Princess Peach, I can't code how to add the neon glow to your username.  So, I'm just going to have to forget about it.

For everybody else, don't take yourself too seriously that I can't yet subtract 500 credits from Princess Peach's total for changing the username color.  If you want your username changed to green, then contact me, and I'll add you to the Matt's Mutants group that I think I'll start.  EDIT:  The Matt's Mutants group now exists, even though my username is blue, because I'm blue in the administrators group.
