Looking for beta testers Empty Looking for beta testers

Post by MemMaker Tue Oct 02, 2012 12:39 am

    Hey Everybody,
I am a hobbyist game developer and student of computer sciences. Since I was raised in the 90s and made first contact with video & computer games in this decade, I am quite fascinated by games of the era. I have made several attempts at writing a game but they all are uncompleted. Until now that is. My current project will get finished and I want some help as to make it as good as possible.

My game is a blend of a Wolfenstein 3D inspired First Person Shooter and a Video Game Museum. It's got countless game references and I hope someone out there will enjoy my game as much as I enjoyed writing it.

However, since level one is about to be finished I want people testing this before I go on and produce level two and three. So I am looking for beta testers right now. Unfortunately my game is windows only at the moment, since I use XNA as game development framework.

    So what is required?

    - You need a Windows machine
    - Some spare time
    - Enthusiasm for old games

If you want to try the beta version of my game send me a message and I will provide you with a download link. I hope to get enough feedback to make this a smooth experience.

I need to know about the following topics:

    - Stability (Does the game crash on you? If so where? Is it reproducable?)
    - Difficulty (Is the game too easy or too hard?)
    - Controls (Do they work like expected?)
    - Environment (Does the environment act like a player would expect?)

And of course everything else you can think of while playing the beta level.

So, I hope I was able to attract some retro gamers and would be very pleased to find some mails from you guys in my inbox..

    Regards,

    fx

That's cool! I seem to be at the right place indeed..
Let me set the current state of the map and the code a bit straight and I will post a download link tomorrow..

The game draws heavily on game references, so you might enjoy it most if you know some of the old games (and a few new ones..)..
Also most of the content is hidden behind secret walls, will have to see if they are too hard to find..
There three big areas in the first map.. A Blake Stone inspired one, a Zelda inspired one and a catacomb style one. Try to find them and tell me what you think about it..

Last but not least, here is a small teaser from youtube.. The gameplay and level seen there is a bit outdated though, the current version has a much bigger map..

(oh, well I am not allowed to post external links right now.. If you want to see that preview, do a youtube search with "nazis girls gore", the first video looking like wolfenstein is my raycaster..)

aww, I can see why that is useful.. But I can't even send a PM with the download link..

I will instead post the pm I would have sent here:
Thanks for participating, I am really eager to have someone play this who is actually interested in the topic..Wink

You will find the beta relase of my game here: ruzzoli.de/wiki/ngg
Don't expect too much though, this is all written from scratch by a single person..

    Thanks for your time..
And for your feedback, in advance..

I've disabled the feature for the time being. Post the link, and I'll put it back in a bit. Anti-Time
