1945 The End of the Third Reach Phase 2 Final, by Penguindog55 - Awarded (March 2011)

I haven't really had time to play this yet but just by looking in an editor it looks like a pretty surprisingly strong first release. The levels appear extensive and well-made, and it seems somewhat challenging. What thoughts do you have to share on this new release?

Not bad for a first mod but I would class it as good/very good rather than excellent. The outdoor levels are done very effectively but I think they would be even better if a bush type object was included instead of using potted plants. The layout of the opening level, which is mostly outdoors, is done very well though. The level designs and decorations of the indoor levels are also done very well.

Good/very good still implies you think it's worth playing overall, is that correct (at least from what you've played so far)?

Yes, it is definitely worth playing.

I've downloaded this and unzipped it. I read the reamde file and for some reason just have no interest in playing it. Not sure what it is, maybe it's the stupidly long title.

Still, it's always good to see new mods coming out.

As with This Spear, I really think that is quite arbitrary. Still, if you've no interest in it, then I'm not forcing it to be on a priority list or anything of that sort. However, I wouldn't recommend throwing it into the garbage bin that fast. I played the first 4 or so maps last night and it's definitely not bad at all. This Spear is better though IMO.

For that reason, I'm not going to try and persuade you past your first impression as heavily as I did with This Spear, but I do think it's worth a look at least from what I've seen.

BTW please reply to my weekly updates and list of mods emails when you have a chance, that would be appreciated. No rush, I was just surprised not to see anything in my mailbox this morning.

A Dome award just popped up for this set. Schabbs told me on the chat a few days ago he was on the edge and still considering whether to give it one but he must have decided it was worth it. I still haven't played most of it so I can't decide whether I agree or not but it's a good sign that it's worth playing. Just wanted to make note of this, thread title has also been updated.
