At first, this Acer One netbook ran fine. One day I updated the BIOS and the battery life went into hell. I even tried downgrading my BIOS to no avail. Help please. The battery goes from 100% to 0% in 30 seconds, and hovers at 0% battery until a minute later, where the netbook shuts itself down.

Sounds like your battery's dead I'm afraid. I think you'll have to buy a new one.

Looks like 30 bucks on the internet. Although I will have a hard time getting the battery since my om is phobic about using credit cards on the internet...

Well, 30 bucks isn't so bad. Maybe you could get her to transfer money into a Paypal account? That way only one site will ever have your card details and you have insurance on purchases.

As I said. phoooobicccc. I was hoping some other solution can help decrease the problem. I already have screen brightness down to minimum when on battery.

When a battery dies that quickly after a charge it means it's dead. It just won't hold the charge. I remember years ago there were issues with BIOS things screwing with batteries life spans but as far as I'm aware that's pretty much all resolved these days. Maybe someone else can (hopefully!) prove me wrong and you can squeeze a little more juice out of it... *crosses fingers*

As an update, I was just trying to smooch off free wifi off Mcdonalds. The problem being, there is no plug to recharge my netbook, so the battery died in about a minute. At least I had time to answer one post on this forum, lol.
