    Sound Blaster/Music Problem

Post by 3DVampire on Sun Jan 04, 2009 5:08 pm

Hi, everyone, I've been playing Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny and its mods for 6 years and it's one of the best classics ever! Anyway, I used to play those games on my older computer, where it had Sound Blaster support for both the sound FX and in-game music, but since I got my new computer, the options for Sound Blaster are there but no music nor any in game sound FX are heard; it's only when I use the PC Speaker that it sounds.

I bought a sound card from Creative and I've installed it into my PCI slot. Drivers have been installed, and my computer is working fine; sound is coming perfectly from the card. Power supply is fine, more than enough to power it. If you want my specifications:

CPU: Pentium 4 531 @ 3.0GHz (fine, the computer may be old but I've been trying to solve this problem for awhile)
    RAM: 1 GB DDR2
    Graphics: GMA 950
Sound (PCI sound card): Creative Sound Blaster Live! Model CT4830

Despite successfully installing the sound blaster, I am still unable to use the sound blaster sound effects and in game music. Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: Argh, crap I forgot sbouy DosBOX, well, I might give that a try....silly me.

Hi 3DVampire, and welcome to the forums.

If the computer system is Windows XP then VDMSound should work. After the program is installed, you just right-click on the Wolf3d exe and select 'Run with VDMS'.

What's so good about special sound blaster effects? Can't we just use normal sound card?

Oh wow, that actually worked! It's just one of those times where people have given me solutions that actually work. rabbit Thank you Thank you!

Dark_wizze: Oh nah, it's mostly for the music, because the music files sound really good, just wanted to hear 'em!
