Abrams Tank Review:
DOSBox is required, but comes with it.
If you only like Rise of The Triad, Doom, and games with better graphics, then this isn’t for you. It doesn’t have up and down depth like Rise of The Triad or Doom. It doesn’t have weird geometry like Doom. If you like Wolfenstein 3D, HoverTank 3D, and etc, then you’ll like this game. I haven’t actually played HoverTank 3D yet. If you like C programming, then you’ll like it. It reminds me of acordgames.webstarts.com.
There’s no music. The sound effects are almost comical. I like the way that the radar diagram in the lower right shows your position and reminds me of the compass from Ken’s Labyrinth. I like the way that when your tank brushes up against the walls that you can hear it. There’s target bobbing somewhat like Doom’s gun bobbing. Rescue the boys and girls and go to the teleporter to go to the next level. I accidentally exploded a boy by tank fire. Enemies include brown monsters, jellyfish, and tanks. If you run too low on health and touch a monster, then your last words are, “Ah, fuh-“ before the mushroom cloud goes off. Each level has a brief storyline. Levels are 4 or 5 minutes maximum or a thermonuclear bomb goes off. I can make it to level 6. That’s when I couldn’t get further. It’s a game that I think is worth the $3 or $4. I might play it for about 4 hours before getting tired of it.
EDIT: Digitaldna tells me, "If you don't want to wait that long for the game to load, press CTRL-F11 or CTRL-F12 to increase or decrease CPU cycles."
