I came into this community shortly before End of Destiny was released, and sub-standard mods were heckled to bits - Kyo Kusanagi started about this time too, put out a lot of product, mostly rubbish and got hell for that.

But I found something today via the Wayback Machine which may top that...

    http://www.wolfenstein3d.co.uk/ktgpics.htm

And here is the manual to that very 'mod' that I'd planned in my head for years and years without knowing anything about materializing sprites, sounds, design, anything to do with a computer, really...

    KILL THE GEZI'S
    MANUALS AND HISTORY

    Storyline

    History - starts in 1896.

In the big country, Gesia, there is a little dump hole called Eisenstein. This little dump has 30 people in population. 10 of them is the Orschtrabthal family. This family houses the dad, Jacob, the mother, Maria and the eight kids, Theodor, Hanz, Franz, Sergei, Thina, Arnold, Engelbrecht and Senvetines. Senventines is the oldest. Born 1879, and he has allways been the outstanding guy. In school, in groups and very unsocial. Afterall, he aren't very nice to be with.

His lonelyness tickles him very much, but in 1898 he find two of his friends...the only friends he ever had, Max Chaplain and Franz Wergenbauer. Both are on same ages. There wishes are to be a part of the gesian politician party. They can't, at first they will make a party. And so they do...

Which in september 1918, make the "Gesian Zuperkunft Party". It is called GZP now. Which is mean "The gesian Zuperkunft party". Zuperkunft is against militairyplaces will be closed and the youth don't wanna be in the army. They will make enormous power. All the country should have unleast one weapon. Every men under 16 should now a lot about weapon and army, and everybody will be rich..not rich on that way, but not extremely poor. But something happens.

The 3rd february 1921 the G.Z.P. comes in the politician party. It happens very well. There are three members, Senvetines, Chaplain and Franz. Everything seems to go right on, but it goes downwards..
Two monts later, Chaplain shot a minister, which make the party suspended in 50 years.

After seven years Senvetines goes crazy. In the news in 1928, everybody heard that next year will be economical cool. Talking on movies, colour on movies, cheaper things, more cars and electricity and all that stuff. That makes Senvetines go nuts, and on the 31st of december 1928 at 23:59:59 o'clock he plain a bomb in D'Sataan, the capital which houses 10 millions in population. The bomb is..an not 100% powerful atombomb. Then it goes a bit like..
    #:¤#¤KABOOOOM!!!#"@@£$

    EPISODE 1: 1929 - THE INDEPENDENT

Midnight, 1st january 1929 Senvetines looses his eye and a round glass pearl comes in instead. From now on, he is called "Glasseye." His army and stronghold is now not only three men, but 300.000 men. But no, if they won't join GZP they will be brutal killed. But anyway..they don't have a life Razz

The 1st of january the spy Wolf Stein discoveres what is wrong. He was spy in the age of 15 in the second worldwar in 1919. Now he knows what Glasseye wants and now he follows him step for step - drink for drink.

Glasseye keep smashing the town from end to end, but changes hes meaning a lot of times. From January-March 1929 the town is broken. In april the 14th, he rembember his childhood when the family took "The nice trip to the Capital". He gets completely sentimentinal, and on the first day in may he take all the town in crowd of 3 million people who is left and talks to them loud: "I will built this city up again. The dust is now must...to be modern."
    And so he goes.
The builders are in big work, and already in november 1929 the town is good. Now six million people lives there, and they have library, theaters, cinemas, cafées and bars and all that stuff.
But everything is not just good. 150 kilometres out for D'Sataan in his childhoodtown, Eisenstein there is a hill with an abandoned castle. Since 1914 he had built on it. Now, the 17th december 1929 it is ready. Now Wolf Stein is on the track and knows where Glasseye houses all the enforcement which will make a worldshake.

    Episode 1 levels:

1 - In the ruins of the night in the start of 1929. Get out of town!

3 - Underground start - a tunnel against D'Sataan, and all the other towns out of this place. Here you'll meet the GZ.. a replacement for SS.
4 - The sewer. Guards is here, and GZ. A lotta new stuff is coming here.
5 - Kind of old graveyard, here is only ghost. Escape, but if you'll be concentrate, you'll find more than you expect...
6 - Schulzburg old castle. Nearby the old castle, and the outway to the next episode..nearly.
7 - Entrance to the old castle. Now its got a name. It is on elevation 2000, so it is called "Castle Zugspitze".
8 - Before you meet the castle guard, Theodore Einkleinz, then you see a unlocked secret chamber which is the "Outway."
9 - Bigtime baby. Here you meet Einkleinz, which is the only one you'll meet except the ghosts.

    EPISODE 2: 1933 - THE SIN

This game is only a taste for my add-ons. We jump right to the sin in 1933. A beloved young fellow died right when he joined the army. This event is dedicated to the song, "Lurking" which is the start music.
Glasseye well keeps the town, but the GZlife is different. 10.000 humans are dead now by gas..

    Episode 2 levels:

1 - Command House. Ten levels in a big bunker, but we are not on the earth. Here its called Totenhaus. A big totenhaus...WOW.
2 - Kitchen. Here you'll meet the servant, which is a mod to the Schiefer dog. Damn i spell english bad.
3 - Officehall 6528-442. Here are officers which are making papers to the death over a minister who'll visit Glasseye. If you kills all these guys the minister will be living longer.
4 - Laboratory. No new, though the GZ guard also are chemistries. Their education not only takes army, also professor grades.
5 - Officehall 6528-666. Deadly weapons and explosives in here, but no men. Where are they gone?
6 - March. 75 men can't see you, cause they march on the same way. Use tha chaingun to this.
7 - Old office. This is the old office of Glasseye. In 1384, this was used for king Hanz XVI. Therefor, there houses ghosts.
8 - Hothouse. A gas chamber. the gas turns on but you can make it stop if you handle right.
9 - Bigtime again. The boss here is the Totenhaus keeper, Johannes Fradz. Easy as..uh..............Schabbs?!?
10 - Right-o-Joe. Here you meet another boss, the wendystarian(which down here means the U.S.) geek who knows all about weapons. Kill him, it's easy.
    NOT!!!
    EPISODE 3: 1935 - UNION STRIKES

After this solution you wait again...until 1935 where the Gesian land starts to hate Glasseye. After the "Bärchen" in 1934(Another addon) everybody is gone nuts. This is a whole union who involves 140 millions people in danger. Help 'em out, kill weaponguy Jöhn Batzbau. Weird name but kill him anyways.

    Episode 3 levels:

1 - D'Sataan six years after chaos. Dead bodies, but guards and GZ's.
2 - Totenhaus 353. Here you will be the next levels. Here is Batzbau.
3 - Mess hall. Gezis are pigs when there is food. The gezis here are all dead because of their drunkness. But there are servants. Easy peasy. But the secrets is...i think more important hmm!
4 - Die voebenläger. All the weapons are here, and here is only GZ's. Masculine, undrunk, and ready to roll. For war, of cause..
5 - Officehall 6554-310. Not something special. Except a boss - the leaders wife, Angoritha Lindenhamn. She is not easy. Unleast 95 shots.
6 - Gotcha! You're busted!! They'll catch you when you come in a door, but there are 20 doors to start with look from the elevatorstart.
7 - Dungeon. Prison! Escape. Just cry, it is a very, very nostalgic level. Oh, those memories..!
8 - Turbolation. Be quiet. This is the dorm. No one are awake.............but if you look there are some!
    9 - Yeahright. There aren't a boss. It was in level 5. !
10 - Messhall by Night. Slaughted bodies and torture. Here you'll meet the mutant mod, the executor.

    EPISODE 4: 1938 - WARSTART

North from Gesia is Venesia. Steins homeland. Since 1921 the general Wilhelm Petersen wondered about Glasseye. Petersen was the country's biggest general in 1931 - now they are confrontational enemys. At the 12th of july a couple on the age 70 at a farm working, did get a wonderful shane. The sun was high, and there was 80 degrees, but the shane wasn't well - it was a bomb. Then one day after the general yells WAR! and so it started. Now Stein still is at Zugspitze, in a big laboratory.

    Episode 4 levels:

1 - Born center. Here are executormutants made. They are - nuff said, the only enemy in this episode.
2 - Wartank. Tanks are built here, but not anymore. The mutants have fixed the tanks better, so the war will rages on for probably 150 years.
3 - P.O.W. - Again a dedicated song. To start with, there is officehall and living officers. Get a key, and you'll come "behind". Here are a chaos with blood, guts, dead guards, dead mutants and living mutants. This is also called "Hell".
4 - The spy must Die. Mutants in this level are programmed to only kill you. An old messhall which now is torturechamber. About 100 enemys, i think.
5 - Medlab. Doctors laboratory. Here are only servants and mutants.
6 - Downside. Dark dungeon, only a prison. There are torturechambers.
7 - Dump. Abandoned old castle area, no one is alive. There are only ghosts.
8 - Booooring. Another level which is nearly the same as level 3. This can be called W.O.P. - new music.
9 - Coocoo. The doctor Arnold Schulzer don't know you're here, so this must be easy.

    EPISODE 5: 1942 - BATTLE RAGES ON...

NOTHING! Completely NOTHING! Can stop Glasseye. He is 63 years old and still waractive. Now 229 million people has been killed in the war, 71 from Gesia but the general isn't touched at all. Petersen send an atombomb over his hometown Eisenstein, and it blowed away. Glasseye is still not touched. So he must order new weapons at the buffer.

    Episode 5 levels:

1 - Weapon Buff. A big place with many weapons and a boss, which is the weaponkeeper. The boss is a Hitler Ghost mod and compelety not "bossed" enough. More in the level is that there are no mutants anymore. And a lots of secrets, of course.
2 - Cargocentral. GZguards and trucks is the only thing you'll see here. Easy.
3 - Chemical Madness. Servants and guards. Here you'll get a new order by your Service: The general is near you.
4 - Chemical Experience. Bombs and dead bodies again. Guards are though, still alive, but weak as allways.
5 - Last Chemical. Two mods from the Hitlerghost, two bosses. A chemical guard and the Colonel Eisenberg. Eisenberg is an old chemistry, and difficult.
6 - Battlefield. Now you're at the battlefield beneath Zugspitze's borders. Now run, to the underground so you can get to D'Sataans battlefields!
7 - Underground Bloodfield. Mutants are here! Unexpected. But daa, it is the underground!
8 - Midnight Train. You'll see a truckmod(train) in the underground. Jump on it, and get to D'Sataan. Rest of the level is just like the 7th.
9 - Nothing Special. In D'Sataans battlefields you are now and must take care. A boss isn't there.
0 - This is floor 0. Sounds aknown, right? This level is dedicated to Tristan van Putten. It's from the Final Solution. I couldn't find this level so i cheated me to it. I couldn't get out of it, so revenge to you, Tristan!

EPISODE 6: 1946 - LAST OUTWAY TO FREEDOM

The battlefield in the capital is very though. You must get in the underground again, but this one is different. It made up in a half year, so the place you'll come to is a "Underground Totenhaus". Sound terrif, eh? But notice: The general is in the last level..

    Episode 6 levels:

1 - Encounting. A center with machines by officers. Only enemys you'll see in this level are those guys. Ghosts isn't there, its the newdays. The levels music is also jazz.
2 - Officehall 6681-946. The last four numbers is the year the war will end. And which year is this?!? Glasseye made it, so what's his plain?
3 - Wic-a-te-Wah! SURPRISE!! I can't say a thing about this level. Na.. the biggest things is mutants are here. Not exited? Daw, i'll keep my mouth shot.
4 - The day after Nightmare. Normal level. Officehall, messhall and torturechamber. GZ's are in bigger groups here, so get your guns ready.
5 - Enemy around the Corner. Dedicated again. But this fits. The level is difficult, but look at the title. Heh.
6 - L.O.L. SPECIAL EDITION. The first bonus level with new modifies. Afterall, it is in the D'Sataan.
7 - Desolated Dungeons. Dark and scary. Full of ghosts - and guards, for that sake.
8 - Worldreaction. Before the big bloodbath with Glasseye - there is a dedicated song. In level 19 in TFS there is a song called "Lurking" or something. Sounds like somethings gonna happen.
9 - Are you strong enough? Battlefield with pure Gezi's. Ten minutes after Glasseye cutted Petersen in thousand pieces you'll came with all your guns to make it absurd for the guy. Technics? No! The level have three rooms. The elevator welcoming, the total big center where 299 guards and Glasseye is, and a elevator jump. So pay attention, boy.
10 - It's over now. Dedicated to song - Victory. You run out in a big hall full of empty rooms and dead bodies to jump.

    - And so it happend. This is kill the Gezi's. Stein was on many missions until 1973 where he get retired. He died at the age 97 in 2001. Happy ending! This is MY happy ending for this game - not for boyfriends, Avril Lavigne!!

Well, afterall this game was succesfull. My plains are to make ONE game for 1938, 1939 and so on. Perhaps i'll make a fun modern addon, style with Hotel Romanstein.

Gotta love the cheesy Avril Lavigne reference. I was 13.

Surely you people must've experienced some embarassment with your first stuff. These days, I know, there's a lot of awareness on first mods and how people expect things to be. It's hard to make a sucky mod these days (though some eventually turn up...) due to SDL, a lot of stuff having already come out ripe for the picking etc. etc.

I'd never criticize anyone for modding a game. But why on earth would you actually show off crap like that to the world? Things that far back from the past are better left there. Thanks for sharing though!

Normally I'd say the same thing, but personally I have no problem showing off things that aren't 'meant to be' shown off. I know this is horrible, but it's the ridiculously funny variant of horrible.

Southern Hell was fun though. I also liked Coldfusion! or whatever it was called. Pigs in a Wolf mod? lol...

Monkeystein I wouldn't be ashamed of though. At least you had an overall concept in your mods; not to mention, despite how you may view them now, they still were newly made sprites, not just hijacked from various oblivious mods.

Well, if not stolen from other mods, then from other sources certainly. I did always want to remake Monkeystein or make a sequel for it, but I never felt much interest in the idea. Coldfusion I never finished. I wanted to, but I couldn't for the life of me come up with any map designs for it. And Southern Hell, I was interested in a sequel long ago, but that faded into obscurity like many of my other mod ideas.

I just hope that I'll eventually have the desire to make something that can be "remembered" in such a way as to capture the original feel, but have an overall better quality and a better replay value.

This is a matter of taste, but personally, cartoon-themed mods are quite hard to make everlasting, interesting and wholesome - their immediate image is of that as being funny, yet clever, off-the-cuff and looking good. Great emphasis on LOOKING... Most 'fun' mods have disposable maps and an even worse storyline, so it's really tough to make cartoony sprites that will stand the test of time and taste.

But I don't know if you have that in mind. Maybe you're more interested in doing a straight WW2 mod rather than, you know, Spongebob and all that.

Well my skills have improved, so the Cartoony sprites I make now certainly have a better chance of standing up to the test of time than those in previous years.

As for making a WW2 mod, I already did that with G&G 0.5, and it received quite the mixed reviews (also, apparently almost nobody could beat it on any difficulty above Easy).

My next mod with be a survival horror-themed mod. That or a remake of Spongebobstein. Either way, I intend to use what I've learned and improve beyond what I've already made.
