Easter Eggs, Secret Levels

Post by stathmk on Tue Apr 22, 2008 5:13 pm

I was playing a total conversion named "The False Spear" and made it to level 7. In one of the cells was a B.J. Blazkowics doppelganger. He was laying down holding the spear and a gun just like at the end of "The Spear of Destiny." This Easter Egg made me wonder. What are the oddest, funniest, or most interesting Easter Eggs that you have found in a mod, add-on, or total conversion for Wolfenstein 3D or The Spear of Destiny? Besides the Pac-Man level of Episode 3 level 10, or the Pac-Man level of Spear Resurrection, what are your favorite secret levels?

I always liked the secret in End of Destiny (I think) where there were the Snowmen enemies. Good times there.

Frosty and Christmas

Post by stathmk on Tue Apr 22, 2008 6:07 pm

Although not technically secret levels, I like the end levels of Spear of Destiny, Spear Resurrection, and Spear End of Destiny. I like the surprise endings.

I've beaten that level. If you like Christmas or Frosty The Snowman, then try these levels:

Another End of Destiny Christmas Level: http://www.areyep.com/RIPandMCS-OldNews.html No extra files needed. The end of the level is the surprise. santarendeer
Scarystein v2.0 Episode 2: http://www.wolfenstein3d.co.uk/adds_STU.htm santarendeer
The Night after Christmas: http://www.wolfenstein3d.co.uk/adds_MNO.htm santarendeer
Edit: I've found out about more Christmas levels. Xmas Wolf: http://www.wolfenstein3d.co.uk/adds_VWX.htm santarendeer
Edit on May 25th: I've found out that Hotel Romanstein 6 has a Christmas theme:

Edit on May 26th: Arielus's Xmas Wolfenstein 3-D is listed in the Shareware Wolf3D:

Easter Eggs & Secret Levels

Post by stathmk on Wed Apr 23, 2008 6:40 am

There are other secret levels that I'll mention. In level 15 of Doom 2, you somehow can go to the secret level. Secret level 1 is episode 1 level 1 of Wolfenstein with midget Germans and extra secret passages. Secret level 2 is the Hans Grosse level. Hans Grosse is replaced with the cyberdemon and 4 Commander Keens. The Commander Keens can't hurt you.

The logos for Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, and id are in GAMEMAPS.C for Episode 3 Level 10 of Wolfmaster from Wolfenstein Super Upgrades. I wasn't expecting that on a secret level.
As for a Wolfenstein Super Upgrade Easter egg, map 4 on GAMEMAPS.H has a cartoon animal saying, IF YOU SEE THIS, YOU ARE CHEATING!

In the original Wolf 3D, I count the Pac-Man ghost guarding 2 1ups in episode 6 level 10 as an Easter egg.

We bought Wolfenstein version 1.4G from Apogee in 1993. I found the "CALL APOGEE SAY AARDWOLF" Easter egg sign also in 1993. So we called Apogee and we were told that it's for a canceled contest. It was right before I bought the hint book, so I wouldn't have known that.

Besides me, how many of you have found the Aardwolf sign?

There's a long story behind that aardwolf sign. A tricky one to find indeed.

I remember playing west wall, and using no clipping cheat. I opened a door and inside was a sign saying something like, you are cheating.

There's a hard to find hidden section in one of the secret levels in 'Escape from Castle Holle' that has some weird funny stuff in it. I wonder if anyone has found it yet?

Some more Easter eggs

Post by stathmk on Thu Apr 24, 2008 11:41 am

There's a morse code message for B.J. Blazkowicz hidden in music in Episode 3 of the original Wolfenstein:
TO BIG BAD WOLF
DE LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD
ELIMINATE HITLER
IMPERATIVE
COMPLETE MISSION WITHIN 24 HOURS
OUT
Note: DE is radio speak for From.

In episode 1 level 1 of a Wolfmaster game from Wolfenstein Super Upgrades, a room has 9 1ups. The 4 Pac-Man ghosts are behind a column in that room.

In WolfCollection, you get to go outside of the buildings on one of the levels. The level must have a border made of invisible walls that you can't walk through.

Sensenmann is the most disturbing Wolfenstein add-on. I think that it's episode 5 where you get to run over Germans and monsters with your motorcycle. I don't know if you want to count that as an Easter egg since you start out the level that way. On a personal note, I think that the programmer took the macabre a little too far and that younger kids might have nightmares after playing this add-on. If I had kids, then I wouldn't let them play this add-on.

I've heard of your Team Aardwolf from the forums. I don't know much about it.

There's an homage to one of the old school Wolfers in there by having a couple of things of his that was hidden in one of his mods in the room as well as some father funny redited versions of Schabbs and BJ.
I'd be happy for someone to report it if they find it but I'll leave it as a surprise for those that want to look.

2 More Secret Levels, hidden characters

Post by stathmk on Mon Apr 28, 2008 3:05 pm

I just remembered some things. There's a secret level of Spear Resurrection with Pac-Man ghosts and grim reapers. I understand that episode 3 of WolfenDoom has a secret level with the grim reaper, but I haven't been to that level yet.

I've found 2 hidden characters. I believe it was Mario's Castle episode 2, level 2. The first hidden character is easy to find on the level. The man in the elevator is a lot like the Death Knight from Spear of Destiny. However, if you shoot at him enough he will be a hidden character that falls out of his armor. I'll save his identity as a surprise for those who want to find him. No, he isn't Mario or Luigi.

Dopefish Easter egg

Post by stathmk on Fri May 02, 2008 12:21 pm

Download the Voxelstein 3D demo from http://www.fileplanet.com/185931/180000/fileinfo/Voxelstein-3D-v0.101-Demo . Look at the readme file for playing directions. You can find the dopefish Easter egg in the bathroom on the first level before even leaving the house. I'm not even able to make it past the first level.

In case you haven't heard of the dopefish yet: http://www.dopefish.com/fishinfo.html .

I think that Voxelstein 3D must be so brand new that maybe you haven't even heard of it yet. On a personal note, I think it's inappropriate that Voxelstein 3D put in a poster of somebody who is think is Dylan Klebold, or puts the Bush poster next to the Hitler poster.

I didn't know that you had played it a few months ago. The game is new to me. Maybe fileplanet didn't put Voxelstein on its web site until recently; I don't know.

I had forgotten to mention that this web page includes a Wolfenstein 3D mod with the dopefish on the secret level of episode 1. You need a lot of ammo to kill him.

Regarding easter eggs, I've also used that in all of my new mods. I don't know if you've found any, but they include something really bizarre.
