Hi, My Name is DJ. I've been a Wolf fanatic for years

Post by DJ_Blazkowicz on Wed Apr 09, 2008 12:40 am

In another lifetime, well 8 years ago or so, I was the creator of The Wolfenstein 3-d Fanclub. It was an awesome place to get together and chat with fellow wolfers. I feel terrible to have left the club in such an awful position. It turned into a porno ad warehouse way too easily. I haven't had much internet access for quite a while, but I hope to get back in the Wolf3d community again. It's so awesome to see people still devoted to a great masterpiece like Wolf3d. I look forward to getting to know the new people in the community and also catching up with some of the old stalwarts that I used to know! Maybe I'll dust off some of my old projects and get them up to speed for the new millennium. That'll be a job for sure! Very Happy

Take care all,

DJ

Hi and welcome!
Finally one of the 'old' wolfers who returns to the community! It's nice to read something about the past. Yeah, dig up some old mods or background information because there isn't a lot going on at the moment.

Welcome to the forums, DJ. Yes, it must be 8 years since The Wolfenstein 3-d Fanclub was created. Amazing how quickly time passes. I think the main reason the club lost a lot of posts was when Yahoo turned it into a group. Most Yahoo clubs had a big fall off when that happened.

If you want any old mods you can still get them from the addons section of the Dome at http://www.wolfenstein3d.co.uk/news.htm . Even the SoD vswap 'Weirdass' is still available. Smile

If anyone's interested here's the link for the fanclub DJ was talking about;

Wolfenstein 3-D Fanclub

Like the guys said it's mainly advertisements for Viagra and ways to increase your .... 'Ummm' size...
This is some big Wolf history here though and one of the precursors to this place. Might give you a bit of idea how involved DJ was in the community going back a few years.

Nice to have see you back around these parts DJ, although I wasn't here when you last where, your legacy does precede you. Smile

Hi DJ! I would have to be 6 years old when that fan club came out, so I didn't hear about it. It does seem sad that the palce got changed to an ad warehouse Sad
But yah, I hope you stay here and see what new mods are being made right now.

Yeah, I remember signing a petition to have RTCW made. I remember speaking with John Romero and Kevin Cloud about how they made it. I have an old newscast video somewhere that showed them working on the actual models and such. It's pretty awesome!

Yeah, we had two dedicated chatrooms, Schabbs and I, devoted to Wolf at that time. I know his was every Thursday, hehe. There were so many websites we gave each other awards! I was a project leader at the Wolfenstein Domain. It was one of the biggies. We had 6 different people working on it.

Hehe, I remember when the source code was released too. Wow have we made strides with that! Smile

What does everyone use these days to edit Wolfenstein, anyways? In my day it was classic DOS programs and something called Floedit.

LOL, I fogot Weirdass was a SoD addon. I played Spear a lot more than Wolf. It was where I got my start. I still remember engaging the God Mode and thinking how cool it was that his eyes lit up yellow! Twisted Evil

Six people for one website. Sounds like a utopia. The wolf community is really
quiet lately.
I don't know if you already discovered it but there is a chatbox somewhere in this forum. You can chat all the time. You only have to be online at the right
time.

The Editors are more comfortable nowadays. You should try WDC and ChaosEdit. Both are good all-around editors. Quite a few people still use Mapedit and Floedit.

Yes, some people consider FloEdit as a fossial. I am a chaosedit person. I think it works best... but that's just my own personal opinion, right? Razz

Yes, ChaosEdit is a very good editor, though I would suggest also getting WDC as it can edit some parts of the game that ChaosEdit cannot.

I'm a ChaosEdit user as well but I've used WDC and it's fairly user friendly alos. The best part is that the creators of both are still active in the community and improving the editors as problems come up.

I remember playing through a bit of 'Weirdass' DJ. From memory it used the original SOD levels but had some of the 'Lost Episodes' graphics in as well as some new walls that depicted planets and pictures of Star Wars ships and things.
