Post by lilmanjs on Fri Oct 26, 2007 3:46 pm

    First topic message reminder :

I was thinking since right now the only things going on for TMU are graphics that Team Aardwolf could make a mapset. if you guys don't like the idea I understand. I was thinking that everyone that's a member of Team Aardwolf could make 2 maps. what do you guys think?

You have to use map-coordinates in the map. For instance if you want to play song 1 on the level you're making, simple put wall tile 1 (1 is the ID) in map-coordinate [0][0]. I've written down the mapspots a couple of pages ago. Just place the appropiate wall tile in the corresponding mapspot. For instance, if you want to change the amount of health the first aid kit gives to 20, you place wall tile 20 (20 is the ID) in the appropiate mapspot.

    Hope it helps.

I've got some breaking news. I'm not keen on this now, and there's a lot on my mind. So I'm not sure if I'm gonna make any more maps for this project. I've made two already, which I'll send to whoever's in charge of this.

brian you are going to want to make changes to your level using chaosedit as I don't think you want to have a blue floor and a blue ceiling, or do you?

EDIT by Brian - This has since been fixed and is now available at http://www.brlowe.co.uk/TAMapset.zip .

for everyone who makes a map(s) for this mapset I have an idea for the credits. the idea is that either john or toni takes a pic of you that you send them and make a one off sprite of you to put next to your name. that sound like a good idea?

I have just checked the map and in the mapset you posted, my map is turned by 90 degrees anti-clockwise. This means that all the parameters like ceiling/floor colours are in the wrong position. Also, the elevator door.

Must be something to do with using Floedit to import the map because it was in Mapedit format.

A new version of the mapset has been posted. The main difference in this version is that the first 2 levels have changed values for things like first aid, ammo and ceiling/floor colours. It's the same link as listed earlier - that is at http://www.brlowe.co.uk/TAMapset.zip .

The first 2 levels need pushwalls opened to complete them.

Good, that's why I made the EXE. So it can be used to its fullest. Cool

I just hope people like my levels. still I don't understand the whole deal with using chaosedit to select your ceiling/floor color and chosing the song.

Why would I want to release the source code? You can't change the floor/ceilings with it anyway. That can only be done in the map. I think I've explained the map-defined stuff pretty clear, what do you don't understand about it?

Oh... I didn't really followed this topic so I wouldn't know that you can't change it through the source...
But I really don't understand how to choose music and floor\ceiling color with a wall tile... It's pretty complicated for me Razz but nevermind that >< I only wanted to use the engine because of it's features which are pretty neat Smile

It isn't really that hard, if you want to let song 1 play on your level, just place wall 1 in the map coordinate. Those map coordinates are given on the first page of this topic I think. Same for the rest, you just got to play with the values a bit to see what fits most.

ok. I get it now. have you made it so that if I want to use a song from SOD I can do that or is it just wolf3d music.

It's just Wolf3d music, since the source code is based on the original Wolf3d.

I have added a new level 8 to the TA mapset. It has 198 guards on the highest difficulty level so I hope it's not too hard to beat. Smile

It's at http://www.brlowe.co.uk/TAMapset2.zip . A saved game is included at the level 7 exit elevator.

I'm half way through a level and it's coming along nicely. I should have it done in a few days, I might even do another one as inspiration for mapping seems to be coming somewhat easily at the moment.

Is there an estimate of a final release date and total number of levels?

here is the brand new exe for the mapset. as to your question dean we don't have a release date but we are going to have a min of 30 levels. I would be glad for you to make more than one level.
