Hey everyone, I'm back, I hope you guys had a good News year. Here is a question I have, What music format is the Mac version of Wolfenstein 3-D? I plan to make music for a project and I'm just curious. Thanks.

Mac Wolfenstein's music is in midi format. I was able to extract the midi data from the game using ResEdit (resource editor) and make playable midi files out of them before converting them to IMF format for the DOS version of Mac-enstein 2nd Encounter.

Phroggy had done this for the first 3 tunes and was the one who pointed me in the right direction:

The music data in the game is stored in standard MIDI format, using custom patches (not General MIDI, so you can't play them on a General MIDI synthesizer unless you change the patches to something vaguely close to what they're supposed to sound like). If I recall correctly, the MIDI data is stored as resources within the application, and can easily be extracted with ResEdit (although to make a standard MIDI file with the results, the data has to go in the data fork, not into a resource). Anyway, here are the three MIDI files I extracted, with the patches changed to make them work with a General MIDI synth. Available here.

Today, I changed the thread title from "A question." to "What music format is the Mac version of Wolfenstein 3-D?" to clarify things.
