    mapping catacomb 3d

Post by raven72 on Sat Aug 13, 2016 9:51 pm

Hi. I was wondering if anybody has any information of guides for setting up TED 5 for making maps for catacomb 3d.... I have found some scraps of information about the map format, but nothing to get to the point of actually doing anything with TED 5

The closest thing I found to a guide was this by Adam Biser:

Maybe WDC can open Catacomb maps already, or you can do it with a text editor?

I don't know if anyone has tried/succeeded at getting TED5 to work even in Wolfenstein 3d yet (maybe because only the alpha versions have TILE16s included anyway). I know that you need 8MB of XMS to run it (or at least more than 4MB):

I think someone (John Romero?) also said that TED5 has some serious bugs that they just lived with instead of fixing, possibly in the TED5 documentation itself. Not sure if anyone at ID or the Commander Keen forums patched them or not.
