I thought that this is appropriate for the Addons,Mods,Etc section.
I was looking at the Doom Facebook page this week. A boy or man with a name almost like a Hindu, Muslim, or Buddhist who speaks almost perfect English posted something to the effect of, “Does anybody know where to buy the original Doom, but not the shareware version, or The Ultimate Doom version?” Some of the posters in the thread were confused & apparently didn’t know that the original Doom was only 3 episodes before the “Thy Flesh Consumed” episode was added. Some of them argued about whether being a collector is weird, or normal & healthy. In the argument, one of the guys posted that he once saw on the internet that somebody paid $20,000 for a CD with hundreds of Wolfenstein 3D mods. I didn’t type there, but I thought that there are some problems with this story. Is it unfounded? Is it $20,000 in American currency? Is it a retail CD, retail DVD, CD-R, or DVD-R? Some responded by posting that some rich people have nothing better to do with their money. Then I left that particular Facebook page to check something. When I went back, the thread was deleted or moved.
I’m not sure if I believe that somebody paid $20,000 for a CD of Wolfenstein 3D mods. However, it seems as though you can buy on Ebay for about the same amount of money several game systems, & 1,000s of computer or video games from rental places that are apparently having going-out-of-business sales. One of the things that I thought as I read that thread was that you could buy the 2-in-1 Playstation & Nintendo CD prototype from 1992 with the cartridge for $5,000. I once saw an episode of Dr. Phil about computer game addiction. The Dr. Phil guest was $20,000 in debt without his wife's knowledge because he bought computer card upgrades, games, downloadable content, & fictional computer game items. Another thing that I thought was that there was a game system that was never released to the public in the 1980s where you can buy a prototype online for $3,500. The other thing that I thought was that if I won $20,000 from the lottery then I’d save most of it for an emergency.
