Der Mantel Des Teufels (The Devil's Cloak)

Post by Airslide on Thu May 24, 2007 5:12 pm

    First topic message reminder :

The Spear is gone...Hitler's minions, Schabbs, Hanz, Gretel, and the others are dead. The Allies push forward through Europe victoriously, and the imminent end is in sight...

But Hitler has one last trick up his sleeve, something that if it succeeds, could end the war in his favor. The Angle of Death, the one you, BJ, have destroyed, was only one of thousands...the Devil's breathren. And now, through the others, Hitler has made a pact with the Devil himself - the souls of his soldiers, himself, and eventually the world for one thing...the Devil's Cloak. While it is unsure what this thing does, it is rumored to give the user great power and close to if not invincibility...

You will be smuggled aboard a German supply truck on a routine trip to the renewed Castle Wolfenstein. You'll be entering a seperate section of the Castle, connected to the main castle via an underground tunnel network. It's the closest we can get you, but you'll still have to navigate through the tunnel network and across the castle to get to the place French Resistance operatives have pin-pointed the Devil's Cloak. Because you'll be smuggled into a heavily guarded area, we're taking no chances on extra equipment, so we're giving you a German P38 so you can use the common 9mm ammunition. And good luck, you'll need it.

I'm trying to decide whether I should keep the German translation of The Devil's Cloak for the title or use English. Regardless, here is the current engine progress (very, very little progress has been made graphicly and in mapping):

    Current Features
*Long, Smooth Bloodsplats (Images from ROTT)
*Multi Floors and Ceilings via 3rd & 4th planes
*Best Weapon - Only have weapons you picked up (Good one from Brother Tank)
*Enemies Enter Pain States Less Often
*SS Shoots once per required shot (like Doom Chaingunner)
    *Rocket Launcher
    *Directional Sprites
    *Many Wolfenstein 3D bug fixes
    *Wall Patches
    *Switch Activated Pushwalls
    *In Game Messages w/Border
    *Gun Switch Movement (Like EOD)
*Frame Rate Counter (Will be Debug Mode Only)
*Weapon Damage (And pistol is more powerful than machinegun shot per shot!)
*Some other stuff that I keep forgetting...

No screenshots yet, as there is very little in the way of graphics or anything else to show.

This mod is for Spear of Destiny, however unlike my previous mod it will be stand-alone and will not require the original Spear of Destiny

    Hey, I'm still alive Razz

I've upgraded to Vista and have been having some issues with dos applications. I've had to resort to DosBox, which, while emulating correct sound panning/distance unlike VDMS, doesn't run aswell. On the plus side camtasia likes DosBox when it comes to recording, so I can post some youtube vids of MDT sometime Very Happy

I've replaced alot of stuff with TW graphics and such. I'm terrible at guards and walls so it's wonderful that Josh released that stuff. It's pretty awesome.

What do you guys think of the fullscreen hud? It seems even while I was gone nobody really took notice of it...

LOL....Some of it isn't too bad, gotta love the interface (nice and smooth like a Mac) but it's really annoying to not be able to run Dos applications in fullscreen.

I'll probably do that soon then. I'm still trying to get everything together to really get back into the mod, and I might look into that WolfSDL or whatever it's called since that runs natively on windows, which would certainly be nice. Plus the higher resolutions Razz
