[new edition released!] "Operation Eisenfaust: Legacy" released!

Post by doomjedi on Fri Nov 21, 2014 2:43 am

    First topic message reminder :

Happy upcoming Christmas to you all! Smile (...and happy birthday for myself tomorrow Smile )

4 years in the making, Team RayCast would like to release its new mod:

    Operation Eisenfaust: Legacy
    http://www.moddb.com/mods/operation-eisenfaust-legacy

Featuring story and level design by Ronwolf, art by Doomjedi, programming from the talented Linuxwolf and WSJ, as well new and original soundtrack mostly by Lozer_42.
Download size: 127 MB, mostly for ogg music and sounds.

    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3751922/Legacy_full.rar (Last update: 04.12.2014)

Small download (just 3MB) without sound and music for those who want just the latest updates and fixes (Last updated 04.12.2014):
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3751922/legacy_small.rar

The story takes place after the events that occured in Operation: Eisenfaust Origins and Operation: Eisenfaust. After Schabbs' demise, it was assumed that the Eisenfaust plans had been destroyed once and for all. But a former protg of Schabbs has taken the blueprints of the operation and is attempting to restart it. It is up to special agent B.J. Blazkowicz to stop the Nazi's from creating another mutant army. Will B.J. stop them, or is he about to find out that the operation might have progressed a lot faster than he thought, with its effects far more devastating...

    Spoiler:
Legacy began right after the cancellation of SonderKommando Revolt, long before Operation Eisenfaust: Origins was even discussed. 4 years, this closely matches Sonder in development timescale. Initial ideas were taken from some ideas thrown in the discussion of the Eisenfaust: Origins remake but ended up growing into having a life of it's own.
This is the first time Team RayCast has gone for new sounds and music made specifically for the mod.

    Please read readme before playing!

    Have fun! Twisted Evil

Okay I thought I screwed up the game by editing stuff in there, but after starting over with a clean game with no edits and getting to secret level 26, IT IS STILL BUGGED. What's weird is that Level 26 was not bugged before the fix with the mutant mechas.

I have a copy of the saved game at the very end of level 19 right at the portal to secret level 26. To trigger the crash on Level 26, just reload a saved game. The "no free space in objlist" message comes up again.

I can still go through level 26 by saving frequently and just start the game again when it crashes. However, another bug is discovered by using the rocket launcher to get rid of an army full skeletons. I can avoid that bug by not using the rocket launcher in that level.

After getting through Level 26, Level 20 won't load at all. If I avoid Level 26, Level 20 works fine, but then Level 21 won't load.

Even with what you guys told me to do, I still cannot get any further than Level 20.

To answer your earlier question Doomjedi, yes I used the latest EXE update AND removed the config.wl6 file.

EDIT: I warped to level 26 using the commands and it works fine. So it may not be the levels that are the problem. It must have to do with the mutant mecha fix.Remember, I was able to load the game at Level 26 in the older EXE. I have the saved game as proof of my troubles without the warping command.

When I downloaded the latest bug fix, it was from November 26. It's still showing 97% kills for level 11. I'm not sure if the most recent patch has been released.

I'm not sure what you mean. To get 100% on level 11, the level has to be re-played using today's updated files. The problem was that a few of the "surprise enemies" weren't being activated and hence couldn't be killed.

I couldn't find the most recent patch with today's files, do you have a link to it? Doomjedi's link in his first post seems to be for the older files (November 26 and before).

Post by WolferCooker on Sat Nov 29, 2014 1:55 pm

Andy, I will send you my saved game now. I started all over again with the new update. The crash still occurs at secret level 26. Now it says too many objects.

The saved game will start at Level 19 in front of the portal to secret level 26.

@Doomjedi, would you like to check out my saved game as well?

EDIT: I think I have pinpointed the problem to my crashes. It isn't the mutant mechas like I first thought, IT'S THE ENEMY SKELETONS. I skipped the secret level 26 and went right to Level 20. When I reloaded it, it crashed.

In my side of playing from the beginning, everything runs smooth, but apparently the remaining levels with the skeleton enemies are what's causing all these crashes.

After further investigation, there's no other explanation. I now understand why the message "GetActor: Too many objects" comes up after the crash.
The skeletons can throw projectile bones or when you kill them, their bones sometimes fly. Take out an army of them at once with a rocket launcher, then the game won't handle the memory. Also, the skeleton enemies themselves might have buggy programming.

Now if I use the commands to warp to any level with the skeletons in them, it works fine as far as reloading games go, but getting to the levels with the skeletons from the very beginning of the game is what's causing me this much trouble.

I never had problems with Level 13 Kumano. Did you look at EVERY well, gurney, stasis chamber, and suits of armor before making your assumption?

Off topic, but I find this to be weird. When you use the rocket launcher once to damage a PROTECTED mutant mecha (The MechaHitler version) and then the Chaingun to finish it off, RARELY an extra mutant spawns by accident.

I'm not sure if this was intentional, but when I finish a level and have a syringe, it is gone when I move on to the next level. I would then have to find another syringe in order to use what I have.

This might be an oversight, but I've noticed that the STG has no ammo item of it's own, but just the weapon itself, whereas all the other weapons have their own ammo item to pick up (rifle rounds, rockets, flame canister, sub-machine gun clip, pistol clip, shotgun shells, ammo belt, etc.)

I noticed that too, but I don't see any unused ammo sprites in Chaosedit so it isn't a glitch.

Edit: Nevermind, there was a skeleton that was underground and didn't come up until I got close to it. Razz

Speaking of level 21... It's quite brutal at the start and one would need to move fast in order to not end up dying. Also getting 100% kills was (gameplay wise) difficult as most of the enemies surround you at the start and all mount machine guns.

We've heard there is a problem with last level musics not playing...we'll look into that

What is with the poison pool fix? I'm guessing it has something to do the pool not being used up when you step in it?

    @Kumano
Props on finishing the game! Smile I suppose I could wait for a fix in the ratios before finishing the game so I can see 100% kills, secrets, and treasure.

Beat the game a few days ago and beat it again last night. Very very impressive. It was well worth the wait!

I just finished the game and it was well designed, thoroughly enjoyed it! Very Happy Some of the enemies have pretty smart AI and features; it really keeps you on your toes. The hardest levels for me were level 26 (especially when locking oneself in a secret area, and small space to fight the green skeleton boxers), level 25 when a lot of mutants get into mecha suits and many uber mutant bosses (grenade one, syringe one, and of course, the cleaver one.), and level 21 (especially near the start and many machine gun nests that are tactically positioned to ambush you).

I did manage to get 100% in ALL the levels including the secret levels! Smile However, I'll replay the last level after the final ratios are fixed in a future update.

Oh, thank you! Very very nice to hear, so much effort was put into this mod for so many years by the team...

Vote for it for the mod of the year.

I just finished the game and it was well designed, thoroughly enjoyed it!
Thank you! I'm so happy cheers sunny

We have so many other cool mods in development...keep tracking us and our projects!

We are fine-tuning our modding abilities and methods with every mod.
I think things that will stay for our mods - is realism, detail and interactivity, especially last 2...we also liked the randomized factor in Legacy and it can be used in future mods as well.
We've listed many other "Legacy" aftermath conclusions and it'll be used to make our future mods better.

I plan to release in the future scrapped art pack from this mod...also draft drawings...

It was a bug where if you get enemy killed by stepping on a poison pool - he'd freeze (and block) on it's first death frame.
