    Compiling Wolf4sdl

    Post by Milanor on Sat May 24, 2014 7:59 am

    Hey all,

    I've been trying to compile Wolf4SDL for the last few days to no avail. I'm using Codeblocks for developing SDL and I've followed the instructions for setting up the environment to do so, but I'm getting lots of strange build errors, which means the compiler won't compile the project. Crying or Very sad

    Some of the errors that I'm getting range from Invalid Argument and fatal error: No input files. I've doubled and triple checked to make sure I set up the compiler correctly (The compiler that I'm using is GNU GCC Compiler from MinGW) as well as the linker and directories. I've also made sure I had the SDL files in the proper directories.

    Here is the build log from Code::Blocks
    mingw32-g++.exe -Dmain=SDL_main -I"C:\Program Files\CodeBlocks\MinGW\include\SDL\" -c C:\Users\HenryJ\Documents\Wolf4SDL-1.7-src\id_ca.cpp -o C:\Users\HenryJ\Documents\Wolf4SDL-1.7-src\.objs\id_ca.o
    mingw32-g++.exe: fatal error: no input files
    compilation terminated.
    Process terminated with status 1 (0 minute(s), 0 second(s))
    0 error(s), 0 warning(s) (0 minute(s), 0 second(s))

    I'm not sure what I'm missing here, but if anyone could help me set up the environment for developing Wolf4SDL, I would greatly appreciate it. Smile

    Edit: I've just left Code::Blocks alone, and went to follow WL_Hack's SDL compiling tutorial.

    Please disregard the previous post, I've decided to set up wolf4sdl on DevC++, however, I'm running into a slightly different error. The compiler did not build the program and the exe, but rather it says "cannot find -lSDL_Mixer" and then says "Build Error" right underneath the error. I'm pretty sure I have all the proper files in the library, but what could I be missing? silent

    Sounds like setup seems to have gone out of control at some point. Filepaths are correct? Everything is linked correctly (sdl libraries, inlcudes etc.)? Filepaths also don't contain extraterrestrial slashed symbols? Haven't followed the sdl tutorial but seems to swap the sdl folder with an existing one. "Project -> Project Options -> Parameters (linker) /Directories (Include)" anything there? Though could be also something entirely else like a black hole emerging from your hard disk.

    I managed to get Wolf4SDL to compile, I followed WLHack's tutorial for the setup and then I got the SDL mixer files within the project and then the project compiled without any problems. Smile
