    My introduction Empty My introduction

    Post by Ryu-sama Sat Jan 11, 2020 2:32 am

    Hello everybody,

I'm Ryu-sama. I'm 46 years old, live in Germany (my mother country) and am a student in med school.

I came across Wolfenstein 3D back in 1994 I think. And I still occasionally play it and some mods.

Other hobbies include singing (Konzertchor Münster, tenor), reading (I read a lot and I'm a fast reader), collecting dice (they long surpassed the 3,000 mark and I'm still looking for new ones), reading, RPG (role playing games like The Dark Eye, CoC, UA, etc.), listening to music (nearly everything), writing, learning new languages (I took a Japanese course last summer), law, cooking, going to the theater or cinema, getting to know new people, travelling, taking photographs, collecting old pens, lanyards and a few more.

I have some knowledge in nursing.

Questions? Feel free to ask. I don't bite.

    Cheers!

As you requested, I added you to the Matt's Mutants group, which changes your username color to green.

Have you ever been down the Autobahn from Cologne to Aftershaven?  I'm kidding.

Have you ever been to the Berlin Wall ruins?

Have you heard of Nordlingen Ries in Bavaria?  When a meteor crashes into the atmosphere, there's a chemical and heat reaction turning it into what I think is called suevite.  Millions of years ago, an asteroid orbited another asteroid.  They crashed miles away from each other in Bavaria.  The church in Bavaria at the center of the crater was unknowingly carved from meteor suevite hundreds of years ago!

You know Japanese?  In about 2005, I had heard a false rumor that "Coca-Cola" translated to Japanese and back to English is "Spank the wax tadpole."

Thank you for adding me to the Mutants' Group. I'm quite fond of the mutants in Wolf3D (and add-ons, mods, you name it).

I have been to Berlin before, but have not yet seen the ruins of the Berlin Wall. Back in 1990, my class in school made a trip to Munich - we also visited Dachau - but we as pupils would have liked to go to Berlin. Sadly, we were overruled by our class teacher - but one of my closer friends stayed in Berlin, and she told me about them.

But I'll definitely go to Berlin in the future, one of my friends is a conductor there.

And yes, I heard about Nördlingen Ries.

My hometown is Münster (Northrhine Westfalia), but I was born in Lower Saxony. At the moment, I'm in Bochum, live with my sister and my brother-in-law and go to med school here.

Thank you for sharing that fake rumor about Coca-Cola. =oD

    You're welcome.

And I posted a bit and a pic in the thread you linked.

EDITh adds something I missed before. I really like the pun you made in your first post - Cologne to Aftershaven. ! That's a nice pun.

    My introduction Empty Beethoven video

Post by stathmk Sat Jan 18, 2020 7:43 pm

Thank you for linking to the Beethoven video in your profile post and I watched it.  I had forgotten to mention that I don't know German!

How many letters are in the German alphabet?  Greek has 24 and you know that English has 26 letters.

Have you ever been to Mecklenburg, Germany?  My Dad thinks that it's the city or German state of his ancestry.  When my Mom and Dad were dating, they both noticed that they both have Grandparents from Germany or that speak German.

Somebody on Diehard Wolfers posted that the retail version of Wolfenstein 3D will be legalized in Germany.  Germany pretty much censored video games by taking the ones that they allow and changing men into robots or into green zombies!  Or at least that's what I had heard about 15 years ago: http://diehardwolfers.areyep.com/viewtopic.php?t=8347  EDIT: You seem to have responded in The Diehard Wolfers thread before I had heard of you.

    Thank you for your answer.

Well, the "Ode to Joy" is kinda universal, don't you think? Everybody knows it, I guess. I also posted the link because I found no second photo to upload in this thread. ;o)

No, I haven't been to Mecklenburg yet. Actually, it's not a town but a reagion over here. It's in Eastern Germany, near Poland. I seriously want to go there one day, because I want to visit Rostock and Wismar. Schwerin could also be interesting. And Rügen of course, Prora being one of Rügen's sights and left-overs  of the former GDR.

Your parents should perhaps do a bit of research where their ancestry is supposed to come from.

The German alphabet also has 26 letters.

@ Nexion: I am not sure. It is a nice graphic I found with a blue man who reminds me of the AReyeP clones but with frostbite.
