    Texture unity in Wolfenstein levels

    Poll

Small levels excluded, what are your thoughts regarding levels using entirely only one texture type?

Sort of an offshoot from the talk about comparing Gary's levels (very multi-textured) to some of Thomas' single texture only maps in the S2000 thread. I prefer at least a small amount of use of additional texture types (second option).

(Note: Decorations are not a different texture type; for instance wood with portrait is no different from wood, and purple slime with blood is no different from purple slime. The only exception is that grey stone and grey stone w/ slime ARE two different types.)

I like a bit of both. Don't have a problem with similarity (e.g. the opening episode of Wolfenstein Reloaded) nor mixed textures (Gary Ragland/Chris etc.) Don't care what it looks like in that manner, just as long as the gameplay keeps things fresh.

I picked the latter although I'd be fine with several levels of the middle option. But then again, even my moss levels have use of large grey brick structures in mossy outsides so...

Same color walls entire map reminds me of a same colored maze that spans the entire level. Makes me want to kill somebody.

I use all at different times on different maps when mapping, just some levels call for different types.
