    SDL conversions requests

Post by WolfForever on Thu Sep 27, 2012 8:48 pm

I thought it would be nice to create a thread in which people can, one at a time per category, make a request for a mod they want converted to SDL. Then Andy or another converter would do whatever has the most requests first, given time and willingness. I split it up into two categories: mods that have small or moderate code changes, versus ones with very high amounts of changes that would likely prove much harder to convert. Thus the ones that are very time consuming can sort of just go along at their own clip, making these independent of the ones that would take less time to convert - so for instance, if this works out we might have five easier to convert mods done before a harder to convert one is finished.

I'm not going to poll since there are far too many mods that at least someone is likely to request a conversion for, and thus would have a far too big poll. But I should fairly easily be able to recognize the ones that get the most requests, which would ultimately be the first to be tackled. If this gets going, I'll probably update this opening post or make a new post tallying what has been requested alongside the number of requests for each one, at least for the ones that are being requested with at least modest frequency.

Personally, I'd have to vote for Orb of Dilaaria in the "difficult" category, and The Golden Episodes in the "easier" category.

My hope is that Andy & any other converters clarify if they are willing to go with this idea; this thread can be stopped if there's little volunteering being shown!

But until then, let's request away! Smile

p.s. For sake of convenience I thought it would be best if the requests were clearly listed at the bottom, so here's mine.

Low/moderate code changes, easier to convert: The Golden Episodes
High/extreme amounts of changes, possibly much more time consuming conversion: Orb of Dilaaria

As far as I know, BTW, the WSJ mods, Golden Episodes, and Weltungertang have all received requests from other on the original thread. So thus far, my requests included, we have:

    Low to moderate code changes:
    Golden Episodes: 2
    WSJ's Eisenritter/Heimzulhang/Coming of the Storm: 1
Project Weltungertang (probably bordering on high, but not quite): 1

    High amount of changes:
    Orb of Dilaaria: 1

My other requests would be Chemical Warfare and Operation Panzerschiff.

Is Deadly Sleep out in SDL or is it just me?

    (totally agree about "Eisenritter")

    From advanced ones:
"Tristania 3D", "Trench Warfare", "Operation:WinterSturm", "Castle HasselHoff".

    From less advanced:
    "Operation Todpfad"

    Deadly Sleep is not SDL.

Also, you can (in fact should) request the same ones that have already been mentioned, because the intent is to prioritize the ones that get the most requests first.

I think its very nice to see in SDL format The Fear Of Magic I and II (by Fredrik Stjernholm). Because these games is like Heretic and we dont have so much medieval themes mods.

If you dig those, Valts, then you must also enjoy 'Dungeon Cephalis' though it's been hailed as one of the most bizarre mods ever.

DeathTrigger is one that I don't see mentioned very often but did quite some revolutionairy stuff like the aiming, riding trucks etc., I would like to see an SDL conversion (or sequel) of that mod.

Yeah, I second that. How could I forget that one?
