    MORE PICS

Team Raycast has released the first part of 'Batman vs. Bane SDL'. It has 10 very well designed levels made by Ronwolf. The mod is city based and features many different scenarios. Virtually all graphics have been changed, many done by Doomjedi. There are a lot of sound, music and code changes too. It all blends well together. There's more info, including a fuller credits list, in Read This. Available here. Vista/Windows 7-compatible.

A wonderful mod I have to say, beautiful graphics, wonderful levels, moody music
and i really loved usable items and walls!
I have a few remarks, hope you don't mind constructive critics Wink
    - guards were walking through locked doors so i could occasionally get somewhere with no chance of getting back
    - the first boss was actually the toughest one, bosses firing projectiles were easy when hiding behind a column,
but this was of course already a problem in original Wolf
    - it's a pity you kept the original sounds for weapons and items, i understand that's because you were in a hurry
Amazing work overall, I enjoyed lots of subtle jokes. Regarding the levels, especially the trains looked very cool.
So thank you and of course looking forward to the sequel! Smile

Did you finish it already? Shocked BatMarathon? SmileSmile

I have a few remarks, hope you don't mind constructive critics Wink
Yes, we want to get better Smile Especially talking about 1st part of a trilogy in-work.

but this was of course already a problem in original Wolf
    Indeed Smile

    Thanks for understanding...

I enjoyed lots of subtle jokes.
Yeah, there are quite a few Smile Like a "fastfood" pun (which we plan to keep for the sequels as well) Smile "BFC" stands for "Batman Fried Chicken" bucket.

So thank you and of course looking forward to the sequel! Smile
We'll keep you guys updated on the process Smile We have so much new features, enemies, items, themes, Villains and art for those....
1st sequel is already ready for mapping - which will start soon.

You're welcome Smile I hope i haven't spoiled much though Wink
Yes I have, on the lame difficulty I admit Embarassed. But even so I barely survived some bosses with 3% health!
I also love the maps. The design is seamless and logical.
Didn't get stuck looking for a key in huge maze as happens in some other mods.
Simply a fast-paced, seamless experience with fresh ideas Smile

Yep, full credit to RonWolf here Smile Being both an expert in "Batman" universe and in Wolf3D mapping - he sure worked his charm.

Indeed....didn't note it to myself before, but now when you said it - indeed very seemless and not mazy mapping....hate getting stuck looking for keys....I love such mods myself.

Yes I noticed. And there is more of course Wink And I really love the title screen!
Thanks Smile A bit retro is style, but original and intimidating Smile Love to play with fonts to create something "more" out of them. The font is based on my "DJ_font" I released quite some time ago over DHW.
Tricob (AFAIR - correct me if I'm wrong) helped in proper recoloring, and Lozer_42 with palette change via WDC.
BTW the first screen was "decided upon", selected, done and added just in recent days, but adds much IMHO.

Can't wait as usual. But take your time to make the sequel even better
We'll sure take our time, and I can already say that it looks very promicing and extensive...even more "GTA3"/"Duke Nukem" style than the first part.
I hate being rushed, I like things to be the best way they can. But the fact that I made/prepared the sequel/s art (and LinuxWolf the coding) in parallel to "part 1" work, will sure speed things up. I also made the most art for the other sequel as well.
The fact is that we can already start mapping the sequel, and it's cool.

    Batman vs. Bane SDL Released

Completed three levels of (I working up to cognition therefore delay).
On the weekend I think will complete the game.
General impressions of the most positive.
In particular - the good design of the game world is adjacent to the clever level design. Urban neighborhoods pleasing variety of textures and lots of lanes, blind alleys. A lot of details and little things liven up the streets of the quarter, the underground halls, rooms, etc. They are the same (details) complement the atmosphere of the grotesque and the absurd. For example, one of the bonuses - the hat of the character from a fairy tale "Alice in Wonderland".
It turned out a good comparison of the Mad hare and the The Riddler from the world of Batman.
The streets are a maze where there are two exits or entrance to a single point level.
Opponents attacked in different ways (not all crammed into a frontal attack).
And if you try to describe the game in a few words - "Batman vs. Bane" is fun, dynamic, interesting.. to the atmosphere resembles Duke 3D.

    Very Happy

Ron (Ronwolf), Ron, and Ron again Smile One of the best mappers.

For example, one of the bonuses - the hat of the character from a fairy tale "Alice in Wonderland".
That was actually the hat of the Mad Hatter (known batman villain, and one I have "liking" of), I thought that was self-obvious Smile Just look at my avatar, heh.
But yes, that Batman character is sure "Alice-themed" in his origins.

Batman vs. Bane SDL Released Arkham-Asylam-AF2-Mad-Hatter

In general, for those items I looked for Bat Villains with clear items/attributes related to them, not directly related to "Bosses" of the mod (for the most part).
The same idea will be in the sequels, though it'll have more meaning (wink).

to the atmosphere resembles Duke 3D.
That's so nice to hear Smile

The fact that the Mad Hatter is adjacent to the Batman in the same world I do not know. Comics (American, Japanese, French, etc.) I respect but it is a very large reservoir of contemporary culture. That is, not knowing the classic 30s, 50s, 70s, I do not want to pay attention to new publications.
But some I've read comics - "Watchmen", "Sin City", "Walking Dead" ..
Unfortunately, European comics rare. For example there is a fine author Jean Giraud alias: Moebius..
Here a couple of his works..

I think "Batman vs. Bane" one of the best mod on the based "open-source-engine-wolf3D"
    Here is a short IMHO.
So as I think that the mod "Batman vs. Bane" could, to make some innovations for all mods
    - two boss at the same level
    - bosses in labiritah streets
    - allusion quest\adventure
    ...
    ..the latter(adventure)is particularly interesting Cool
I understand that it is easy to give advice (I'm not a programmer).. but why not try?
I think that the "Batman vs. Bane" good reason to drastically change the gameplay, "Wolf 3D". The plot? You can rethink the official version. The attempt on Hitler. In life, the attempt failed. In the event the game can be corrected. And it can be done by merging genres - FPS + Quest\Adventure.
These thoughts occurred to during the passage of "Batman vs. Bane"
    .
It remains to add that the "Team RayCast" - just geniuses.
